I have discovered that you can use the KnowBetter lending library with your fictionwise membership, and these are your options:

Quote:
Thank you for registering! You're almost done...

You are given the option of paying a $19.95 due to the library.
If you would like to pay the due, benefits include:

Waiting List - If an eBook is checked out, you can be placed on a waiting list for 3 eBook(s) at a time. When it becomes available, we will automatically place it into your bookshelf and notify you as soon as it's available!
Check out an eBook for 3 to 21 days.
Check out 3 eBook(s) at a time.
Library Due: $19.95

Otherwise, you are ready to check out eBooks:
Unrestricted Books Only - You may only borrow eBooks of the UNRESTRICTED variety. These do not have one-patron-at-a-time borrowing limit.
Check out an eBook for 14 days.
Check out 1 eBook(s) at a time.
The book I wanted to check out is not available for free. I'm not sure what books are available for free.

edit:
I was able to get a classic (copyright expired) book downloaded but it won't work on the cybook - I get a message "this book is not active yet."

This is optional, they also have a free membership with limitations (only some books, only one book at a time for 14 days).

This library seems to be a local one, but they accept open registrations. They have about 1300 different books in their library.

Here, I've made a wiki page for libraries. Desperately in need of additional input.

Great job. I will try and supplement the list and find a place to link it into the existing structure.

This is a great effort by cmbs and it climbing in the list of popular pages on the wiki at a really fast rate (already more than 100 hits). Looks like it strikes a chord here at MobileRead.

Has anyone (in Ohio, but not close to Cleveland) tried to get access to ClevNet for the purposes of checking out ebooks? I'm a permanent resident of Ohio, so I should be able to apply, but I'd rather not have to drive all the way there (I'm in the opposite corner of the state). I do have library cards for three library systems in surrounding areas.

I posted a separate topic on this, but it got moved to the Lounge. I'm not sure why... I'm trying to get access to ebooks to read on my blackberry 7100i with Mobipocket reader. I didn't think it was completely off topic...

Thanks!

I suggest you give Clevenet a call and see what they have to say. I've looked at their eBooks and I think its worth it.

It's not active yet because the CyBook's clock is wrong. See this thread:

https://www.mobileread.com/forums/showthread.php?t=22634

for instructions on how to set your CyBook's clock.

I might try that. I've tried the question form on the Cleveland library website, but the last couple of times I tried that I got no reply. Does any one have a recommendation on a phone number/online form/email address, or should I just try the main number?

Thanks!

I've gotten a reply this time, but it's the usual "you have to show up at a branch with a photo ID". That kind of leaves me out, because the nearest branch is 3.5 hr drive away from my house... oh well, I guess it just wasn't meant to be...
