Walmart has a new feature where you order online then go to the store and pay with cash. I see the site bogged like it was when I tried to order the tablet.

Also anything bought from Nov 1 falls under their holiday returns policy which is super generous.

I'll be at Walmart for the Bratz and Monster High dolls. I noticed a no contract Android phone for $29. I wonder if that would be any good as a mini tablet/ereader. It's a Samsung Galaxy Centura. I wonder how fast they will go. Once I get to the store, I stake out my spot and don't move. It's the only way to get the Monster High dolls.

Amazon adds Sunday delivery for Prime members in LA & NYC. More cities to be added next year. This arrangement is through USPS.

I saw this article last night and my understanding was that it was not just for Prime. The article said non-Prime members would pay standard business day shipping rates. It also said that the timing of this has nothing to do with the holidays, but that was a happy coincidence.

Interesting... Amazon's press release states otherwise. Hope it's for everyone.

Amazon.com, Inc. (NASDAQ: AMZN) is working with the U.S. Postal Service to deliver packages on Sunday, starting in the Los Angeles and New York metropolitan areas. Amazon Prime members, who receive unlimited, free two-day shipping on millions of items, can now receive their packages on Sunday in these areas. Amazon and the U.S. Postal Service plan to roll out this service to a large portion of the U.S. population in 2014 including Dallas, Houston, New Orleans and Phoenix, to name a few.

I saw Monster High dolls in one of the BF ads yesterday--Kmart or Sears.

Last year, the no-contract android phones at my local Walmart went very fast-- as did their entire stock of no-contract phones, whether or not they were on sale. I suppose it depends on your area....
But, I did buy no contract androids on "doorbuster" pricing from another store, even through the weekend. Both are used as mini-tablets exclusively-- my wife's for streaming Pandora and playback of digital music at work & TV-room wifi web brousing; mine primarily for wifi internet, ebook reading, & the many available "tool" apps, as well as integrating just fine with an external bluetooth keyboard (this is not a universal option with smart phones, so check carefully if you want to do this).
The "mini-tablet" non-activated smart phones are the best tech purchase I've made in several years-- probably wouldn't impress me as much if we actually had smart-phones for phones.......

When you buy a no contract phone, are you required to activate it? or is it just like buying a tablet?

Every deal on the iPad Air has been for the 16 GB model, which is too limited for most people. Same with the 16 GB KF HD 8.9.

Was the Nexus 7 you listed the most recent model?

The one from GameStop for $99 is last year's model. The one from OfficeMax for $260 is the new one.

Can I ask a stupid question? Where did you see that laptop listed for Thanksgiving? I'd like to get one, but I don't see it listed on their ad. Maybe I'm just overlooking it?

My problem with this model and the Acer's model are the touchpad are huge! It makes no sense to have a touch pad that big.

Maybe Someone that has one with a huge touchpad can enlighten why it's needed?

Oh, I don't care one whit if it is touch pad or not. Hubby wants to be able to listen to MLB (major league baseball) on the road and be able to have a laptop he can have outside when he is building stuff. He doesn't have a proper shop, he does all of his woodworking in the yard, poor guy! I just want cheap and easy for him to use. Cheap being the operative word there!!
I haven't even really used a touch screen for Win 8 yet. I'm so behind the times when it comes to tablets and smart phones and touch!
S
Oh, I forgot. Blossom I was up your way last week. I miss it so much!

Looking at the pics of the Asus featured in that post, it seems to be about the same size as the one on my laptop, and in actual usage it doesn't seem big at all. I find mine to be just right, especially in proportion to the size of the keyboard. Factor in pinch-to-zoom and other gestures and the larger area is nice to have. I find the small touchpads to be nearly unusable, but it's really an individual thing.

I haven't looked through the ad for laptops and storage yet. What I posted earlier was from a teaser that Best Buy announced. When I get around to the laptops, I'll let you know.
