Woke up this mornin' feelin' fineThere's somethin' special on my mind Last night I met a new girl in the neighbourhood, whoa yeah Somethin' tells me I'm into something good (Somethin' tells me I'm into somethin') She's the kind of girl who's not too shy And I can tell I'm her kind of guy She danced close to me like I hoped she would (she danced with me like I hoped she would) Somethin' tells me I'm into something good (Somethin' tells me I'm into somethin' good) ![]() ( http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=YFijHpB-IQQ ) Good morning, everyone! Fifty-one years ago today... I asked 'Laura' to be my steady girlfriend. She said yes! She was my first 'real' girlfriend, and we stayed together all through high school and a year beyond, until I got the letter that said 'I think maybe we should start seeing other people because I already have.' She wound up marrying that 'other people' guy, and they are still married today! So much for high school romance... There's a mug of East India Company's "Royal Breakfast" tea with my name on it, waiting patiently, and a Sunday morning breakfast waiting to be cooked. If my wife ever decides to wake up, I can get started breaking eggs for a fancy omelet. I have a feeling Felicity won't let her sleep much longer. Damn cat won't let me sleep past 7am... Sitting on my pillow meowing until I get up to give her her morning's little fish treat! She knows she'll get another when/if my wife gets out of bed! I think we'd be better served having a chia-pet. Unfortunately, she meows in a frequency that I can still hear, and the meowing is accompanied by a paw patting me on the cheek. But now you've got me wondering... just what frequency is it that she uses for that and for asking for food. I have no trouble hearing either of them. But my wife often tells me that Felicity is calling for something, and I don't hear those meows... I just ordered a very accurate Peterson strobe tuner for some guitar modifications I'm making. I'll have to turn it on around 5pm (her wet-food dinner time) and see the readout.

Sadly, the '98 was no good at all. When we broke the foil, there was evidence of leaking, and when we pulled the cork, we could see that it had obviously gotten some oxygen in there. At 15 years, it should still have been quite good, but was totally gone. Sigh. And it was our last of the '98, too. Not a great year for Napa Cabs, even in the Rutherford area, but still a respectable year. We opened a bottle last winter and it was still drinking really well. But not this particular bottle, unfortunately. I'm saving those two '97s and that '95 for special occasions, so, we opened a '99 instead. Excellent. A nose that still has a fair amount of black fruit in it, with the distinctive "Rutherford Dust" very present. Not even a hint of browning on the edge in the glass, which is a deep, almost inky dark red-black. A bit of chocolate and berry in the front of the mouth, with a strong finish. Showing a very slight thinness in the middle that wasn't there when it was younger, and the puckery dryness of tannin is mostly gone, though there's still plenty of structure and a long, lingering finish.

IOW, a really fine example of Napa Cabernet Sauvignon at its peak or nearly so. Good for 5-10 more years easily. This morning - a big glass of fresh squeezed orange juice, and a mug of Peet's Anniversary Breakfast Blend (2013). |

Namring Estate First Flush Darjeeling. Of the three First Flush Darjeelings I have here, this is the least appealing somehow. It has a nice floral nose, a clear yellow liquor, and a fresh taste, but it just isn't quite what I want. Ah, well.

They say don't go on Wolverton Mountain if you're looking for a wifeCause Clifton Clowers has a pretty young daughter He's mighty handy with a gun and a knife Her tender lips are sweeter than honey and Wolverton Mountain protects her there The bears and the birds tell Clifton Clowers if a stranger should enter there All of my dreams are on Wolverton Mountain I want his daughter for my wife I'll take my chances and climb that mountain Though Clifton Clowers he might take my life Her tender lips are sweeter than honey... The bears and the birds tell Clifton Clowers if a stranger should wander there ![]() ( http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=QpmztcX_BtI ) It's just one of those lovely mornings! Good morning, all! Sun's up, cool breeze blowing, big mug of Ahmad's "English Breakfast" tea steaming at my side, and it looks to be the start of a good week. Who could ask for more? Stitchawl |

Red Rose Tea - Brewed very dark and hot, with sugar and powdered milk reconstituted with just enough water to prevent scalding before the tea is added. I stocked up on basic pantry essentials at the beginning of the month, including 330 bags (3 boxes) of Red Rose, two large boxes of powdered milk, and 5 lb of sugar.
