Question Glo and Battery Life in sleep mode

Hi there,
having some problems with my Glo. I'm experiencing strange issues with sleep mode. During the night I do not turn off the Glo, just put it in stand by mode and if before sleep the battery was 56 % the next morning is 40 %.

Tried to disable Cover Sleep Mode
Tried to update firmware to last ver 2.10
Tried to reset system to default settings (it reset software to 2.2.1 then re-update).
Tried without the external SD card...

Wifi off.

Is there something I wrong?

I have the same problem but it might be due to too much tinkering with it. Try depleting it completely and fully charging it a couple of times. Most of the time the battery needs calibration. I'm also using a sleep cover and it turns off the glow and puts the reader to sleep in no time. I've lost some 40% in 5 days, so I'm still not freaking out.

Try removing the sleep cover, see if that helps. There is an issue where the battery drains if something (such as a cover flap) touches the screen while the device is entering sleep mode. This problem can occur with ordinary covers too, not just sleep covers.

I don't use a cover, and I've never seen my Glo lose even 1% while asleep overnight (with wifi off).

I am encountering the same problem as well. Fully charged, turn it to standby mode and left it inside my drawer. There is nothing on top of the screen as i am not using any case or put anything on top of it. A week later, i couldn't switch it on as the battery is fully depleted. At times, just leaving it in standby mode for 2-3 days, can drain as much as 40% of the battery.

This battery life issue is really getting on my nerve.

Additional Info:
-I am reading sideloaded epub from microsd
-books are managed by calibre

Being asleep there's NO WAY the reader won't lose charge. The only one that could be in sleep mode for 6 months losing little charge was the Sony PRS T1. All the others, if you're not using them, turn them off. It's the only way you won't lose any charge. 1 or 2% a day is a quite acceptable discharge, specially if you open and close or if you have a smart cover. I can't tell of the Kindle, but all the others listed in my avatar had to be charged at least once a month in sleep mode.

I have to apologize. Something happened to my Kobo since I updated my books to Kepubs and installed the plugins. All of a sudden my Glo would deplete itself overnight completely. I have to find out if this is a problem of the plugin, or the reader. When I first installed epubs I didn't have this problem. If anyone knows, I'd be grateful.

Are you using a cover? That has caused problems to certain people for certain firmwares, but the long and short is, try sleeping your glo by hand ...waiting 20 seconds, then closing the cover or putting away. If that solves the issue, it is likely something was interferring with the IR beam.

So, i pulled off the cover when the Glo was completely discharged.
15/11 00:10 --- Battery 100 %
15/11 08:29 --- Battery 100 %
15/11 15:44 --- Battery 90 %
16/11 14:11 --- Battery 69 %

The glo was used just to check battery level. The book in sleep mode was an epub sideloaded with calibre on SDCard.

SleepCover Mode was disabled.
A 30 % drain is too much even for sleep mode, I Think

I agree.

Try cleaning with a soft brush or similar along the edges to make sure there isn't anything blocking the IR beams.

Another issue people have suggested (I forget whether it was ever verified) is that certain books (possibly related to being badly formatted) can cause excessive battery drain, it was also suggested that this was worse when the reader was put to sleep with that book open. So try exiting your book and then putting it to sleep.

Maybe there are other people who can come up with some other suggestions. How long have you had your glo? How long have you been experiencing this issue? Since 2.8.1 firmware or before?

I'm wondering if this could have anything to do with "plugins" that have been installed? Which plugins? How many of those with a problem have, or had them installed? Just because someone writes benign code when coupled with a previous firmware doesn't mean it will stay that way with future versions. Worth checking to see if there is a common thread with a particular plug in and a process that may stay running, but it seems like the drain would be as bad while the reader was "on."

This is exactly the same problem as what i am encountering now. I put my glo to sleep while i am reading an sideloaded epub on SD Card (Managed by Calibre). This can drain as much as 40% battery life in 2 days of sleep mode.

Until now I have the Kobo Touch Extended Driver and the Kobo Touch Driver, extensively used in the forums. Back when I just got it I loaded epubs and didn't have any problems. Now I have trouble loading books, they just won't load. I have to reset the Kobo several times until it works. If this goes on I'll disable the plugins and try again loading epubs. I'd rather not have the extended features. All of these books are exquisitely formatted and worked flawlessly on the Nook ST Glow.

Done.
Done.

I tried everything: clean the edges of IR beams, restore default settings (now my software version is 2.1.2 and I have NO ebooks in it, a new kobo account), remove the sleep cover

Results?
20/11 03:00 PM - 100 %
20/11 05:32 PM - 100 %
21/11 09:53 AM - 89 %

There is definitely a problem with my kobo. I'm going to contact warranty service to solve my problem.
