At one point in my life I was clocked at 10,000 WPM. I normally read about 8-1200 WPM at the moment. I'm also a freelancer, working from home and usually only work 3 1/2 days a week. I answered 61+ because my normal reading pattern is to read 3-4 books over a 2-3 day span in a single week 2-3 weeks out of the month, and read about a book a week the rest of the time. That averages out to just under 9 books in a 4 week month, which is barely over two a week. For those wondering, I think that's why so many chose the top option on this poll. Anything more than a book a week is going to put you into that category, and it's really not hard to read that much if you're reading on a regular basis. |

I'm not picky on length. (Two of my all-time faves are barely novellas--BURROUGHS' THE RIDER and BRADLEY'S SPELL SWORD--but big ones like MOTE IN GOD'S EYE and most of the Honorverse saga are high in the list, too.) When I was introduced to Tolkien at 17 I read the whole set twice, back to back...in one week. Shortly afterwards I read the 25 volume Tarzan series. Took me a month cause classes had started. Drove my roommates nuts. Although, truthfully, they were nuts to start with. One of them dreamed Tolkien. Woke us up ranting "Gandalf can't be dead!" | |

I usually read one or two books a week, depending on what else is going on in my life.

I haven't updated my reading list in a while, but I'm probably close to 100 for the year by now. I can't not read. |

I have an audio book running all night long, every night, so depending on the length that would be a book every 1 to 2 days. I'm thinking this shouldn't count though, since I'm asleep and alll........ But, I do listen to approximately one book per week (while awake) and read about 1 1/2 -2 books per week, depending on the length. I don't work outside the home, so I can listen for hours every day. Hubby travels out of town 4 nights a week. I just don't sleep well on those nights, so I get a lot of reading done those nights. S |

Note to self: Next time when making a similar poll (if there is a next time) think books per week and not books per month.

I only started keeping a record in November 2012, so I now have one year of data. 649 books. This includes audio and all lengths of ebook. No treebooks read. I need to note I am retired and have always been a fast reader. 2 books a day while in primary school. A number of books I read are Harlequin which are shorter, but I've recently read Elizabeth George's latest which certainly isn't. |

Usually I average 150 a year. This year a few less I think for eye/medical issues. I wish I could get into audio books. And yes, I have a life, I have a job and no, I don't read on anyone else's dime. I find time to read in between about everything. I just love to read and its my main hobby. More than a hobby, its life blood. I can't "not" read. Main help for me though is my kindle. I can get the font the size I need it, have the flat reading surface and so I can read faster and more than I used to. My joy is been back for 5 years now. |
