Talking New Lurker from Michigan!

Hi!

I ordered my Sony 505 two days ago and I discovered this forum while I was trying to figure out a part of the order form on the Sony site, and while there wasn't any help here , I thought this would be a great place to hang out AFTER my reader comes.

I will probably do more lurking than posting but I wanted to pop in and say hi!

A little background: I was quite a reader when I was younger, but working full time and getting married and starting a family has all gotten the way of my reading. It hasn't stopped me from buying books though and one of my "justifications" is that my "unread" stack will not take up so much space in the house!

Lately I've been reading books that are scifi/fantasy/paranormal, but my "paper" collection is a mix of classics, general fiction, and mysteries as well as some young adult fantasy (like Harry Potter. ) and Christian titles.

I especially like books that are engrossing multivolume series -- like Diana Gabaldon's Outlander series (which I looked up in the Sony store before I place my order. ) I also have several mystery series that I stopped collecting several years ago, which have continued to grow, and I'm hoping to fill the gaps with electronic versions.

I'm looking forward to combing the ebook and recommendation forums and seeing what you all have to say!

(There are a lot of cute smilies around here! )

Katie,

Welcome! Glad you like the emoticons!

Did you get your issue resolved... you could ask here in the correct forum and probably get tons on answers... one of them may even be the correct answer.

Welcome. This is the place for information and recommendations from people who love reading (and even have paper books). Check out if your public library offers ebook selections. For me it's a terrific resource.

cheers

Yay!!! Another Diana Gabaldon Outlander fan! I can't wait for another one to come out. I read the whole series in electronic form -- on a Palm PDA. When the books are as good as these are, you don't even NOTICE that you are pressing next-page at the rate of a mile a minute!

Welcome to the Forum. Lots of helpful advice, great books that have been hand formatted, and a bunch of literate silliness too!

Hi Katie and welcome to the Forum. I got a Sony 505 back in January and like it a lot.

And, if you're into SciFi, go to the Baen site (http://www.webscription.net/c-1-free-library.aspx) and download Eric Flint's '1632'. It's free and a great read.

Thanks for the warm welcome!

(My question was unrelated to the Reader itself, but about a checkbox on the payment page of the Sony site. I finally figured it out by deciphering the FAQs but I found a great discussion board while I was looking so it was well worth the struggle! )

Welcome to the forum. I think you'll adore your Sony when you get it. I got mine in July and am very happy with it. You will likely find it very simple to use.

I'm originally from Michigan too. Mt. Pleasant. Born and raised there, but moved out west when I was 23.
