Prologue Books are currently on sale for 99 cents at Amazon--these are mostly reprints of older pulp fiction; lots of noir. Many of them are Whispersync titles with the matching audiobook being only $2.99 (at least that was the price for all the ones I checked).

Yep, it's a great way to get your qualifying purchases. I have over 150 audiobooks from Audible and have spent less than $20 of my own money on them. I love these deals.

With three to go, I plan to buy three $0.99 Whispersync titles. Then I'll use the $10 credit to buy 10 more $0.99 titles. I'm one cheap monkey

If you qualify for the credit, you see the banner on almost every page at Audible. From what I can tell, everyone qualifies - they say you can use credits or cash and have a link to join at the bottom for those who don't have a member discount, implying that being a member isn't required. but just above that they do say you must be a "member" to get the $10 credit (and by member, they usually mean you must have a subscription).

So, if you are not a member, join, get your free books (find a 2-credit trial deal, taking care of the first two books), buy enough to get the credit, then cancel (after the 4th ... and if you spend your $10 on the light membership at that point, you don't get free books from the deal, but do get a lot of sales during the next year).

Thank you very much. It is as I thought: I'll need to get a membership to get the 10 $ credit. I'll think about it but it's very tempting.
