For me it seems to be around four or five hours for the time outs. Though as Zelda.owns.link above/below states you can buy a gift card from chapter's/indigo. It works no matter what, functions on all versions of the checkout screen from what I've seen and is easy to get. Downside is you have to wait about a day to get it. I ordered mine yesterday at around nine o'clock at night and got it in my e-mail today at three thirty in the afternoon (the earliest date for "delivery" was the next day since they are officially gift cards and you need to "give" them to someone). I only paid for a ten dollar one in order to test it out but it worked marvellously.

Ahh, I was checking the digital ones on the website where they're not really reloadable (but you can just buy another for the amount you want so I guess it's the same thing.

Well, I'm shutting down my use of the code... Bought WAAAAAAAAAAY!!!!!!! too many books. Just way too many, no other way to describe it. If I manage to download the adobe drm pdf books that I got as part of my shopping spree (two books only) I might buy some more if they're good as they're reference books and part of a set. But only if I manage to download them and if they're good.

I'm in the U.S. so I don't know if that's an option for me?

It isn't Kobo this time it's actually the card. It wont work anywhere. If it's not fix by tomorrow then I will call customer service. They might have added some protection mechanism since I last went on a shopping spree. alot of small amounts charged may have set it off.

About 3 years ago I bought 300 nickle books without any issues with it but I think something may have changed.

I have been trying unsuccessfully since Saturday to use the 75% discount code. I have been accessing the Kobo website on my PC through Firefox, Chrome and IE9 and also the Kobo desktop app. I am attempting to purchase books that I know to be couponable. I am not getting a new checkout screen anywhere. I have not, however, changed my country on Kobo's system since that contravenes the terms of use. Is or was there any way of benefiting from the discount code while remaining officially in my home country of Australia?

I don't know if you're aware that Kobo has declared that Norfolk Island is it's own country, changed the currency to USD, ignoring all diplomatic and UN channels. They just did it of their own volition.

The Australian government supports geo unblocking and there are many articles on this in the Aus press .... google it ... and you will also see how the eprint media, and tv eprint media describe ways to geo unblock.

I used the Australian store yesterday with Chrome and got the new checkout so I was able to use the code, haven't tried it today

As an experiment, although feeling uncomfortable about it, I have gone into my Kobo account, deleted my payment information (required in order to change country), and changed the country to Norfolk Island. Then, as soon as I re-enter my Australian Visa card number, the country field jumps back to Australia. There is no option to make PayPal the preferred payment method on this page. So, I don't see how a country change can be effected. Anyway, if I did succeed in changing to Norfolk Island, would this unlock the 75% discount code?

My Amex stopped after 6 Kobo purchases. They called me about "unusual activity" and wanted me to list recent transactions. I told them about the Kobo/Paypal purchases which were all under $1.00. She said that was how thieves work; start with very small amounts to test card then hit it big. She reactivated card with no concerns. She was very pleasant.

Hey, I'm in Mexico using a Mexican debit card so if it works for me it should work for you (just make sure it's the digital gift card you're buying, otherwise you'll be in for a far longer wait )

You only need to change the country to get the new checkout screen. While there you can change back to your country from the same checkout screen without any problems and the code should work.

But if you want to buy more than one book you'll need to change the country every time before you purchase. There are two ways to do this:
one is to change it to X location that works and then open each book you plan to buy in a new tab, then go in each of those tabs and choose to buy so you are taken to the new checkout screen. Then you can change your location without affecting those checkout screens.

If you are going to be browsing and buying and then browsing again you might want to keep one window open with your account settings set to the country of your choice. Then in another tab do the purchasing and browsing. Every time you are going to open a specific book page you plan to buy go to the account window and click on "save". As the window hasn't been refreshed it'll still have the country/address info you want/need. Then in the checkout window you can apply the code if applicable and change the country to the one you need for your card to work.

Option one is easier...

Can I just make an observation that New Zealand prices are ridiculous? Whenever I changed back to my home country to use my card the price would drop, sometimes 30 percent, sometimes to about half of the New Zealand price. Heck, the New Zealand list prices were above both the Canada and the Mexican list prices.

Yes New Zealand prices appear to be higher than elsewhere, but many times books are discountable in NZ when they are not in other countries (US). In addition prices are in NZ dollars which should be converted to US dollars for an accurate comparison (1 US$ = 1.22 NZ$). And besides, the difference in price become negligible when only paying 25%

My card is a prepaid debit Visa card supposedly with no protection but obviously that changed this year because the card is not working. Funny thing is there is $15 total on that card. To turn it off for such a small amount is just silly!

I'm going to wait till all the transactions is posted then see if it works again if not I will call them.

All these hoops we have to endure because Kobo doesn't have a cart or eGift cards.
