You'll pay a conversion fee - because you'll usually pay in the currency of the country.

Although the following countries use USD and not their home currencies:

Norfolk Island (which is part of Australia and should be therefore AUD not USD)

Vietnam

India

No doubt there are other examples where USD is used exclusively by Kobo

No, i don't think Kobo uses Paypal for NZ.

I tried in the US and it keeps saying 'unable to apply promo code". I'm not sure if that's just the message for titles where you can't apply codes, or if I'm doing something wrong.

Is the kobo payments screen the new version or the old one?

I get the same message when I switch from US to Mexico on the new payment screen. They remove the Paypal option and force you to enter a credit card number. Kobo wouldn't accept my Visa. It's either a glitch or Kobo is matching credit cards to your country.

However, on the main My Account screen everything is the same as before. Paypal and promo codes are still there for Mexico.

I use mastercard and haven't had any probs. So it might be visa.

Yup, that seems to be the problem then. Can't find any books I'd want which allow promo codes via the US site. Are there any other countries that charge in USD and allow Paypal with the new checkout system?
