				Buying new devices addicts!

I find myself addicted to seeing a new device just released and I have a irresistible urge to go and buy it.. which I frequently do.. I feel what I currently have is old and out of date.. (which in today's world is usually 12 months).. anyone else here have the same problem?

I have the urge, but then I look and see how my current devices currently work for me and see how a new device wouldn't be beneficial.

Yes, I suffer from this affliction. Kindles, iPads, Nexus 7s, Kobos, Sonys.... And that stupid Onyx Boox M90. I've got to unload that dud.

While I'd love the latest device I'm too frugal...er um meant cheap...so I'm sticking with my current reader and love it.

Sigh. Another thread to subscribe to. I just got an Aura HD when it was released and now I have an Aura pre-ordered. I got a Galaxy Note about a year and 4 months ago and now I'm greedily eyeing the Nexus 5. I've got a PS4 ordered even though I have no time to play my PS3 and I'm lusting over a new ipad or ipad mini retina.

I just got a new laptop, so that's going to stop any ereader buying for a while.

![]() But really, there's nothing out there right now that is intriguing me so much that I've just got to have it. With being able to read Kindle books directly on my Nook HD, that has totally eliminated the need to get any Kindles for me. I probably would like to have one of the glow light e-ink readers, just because I don't have one, but I really, really don't actually NEED it - and I'm trying to be strong about it.

I used to get every new gadget that caught my eye. I think I've finally been (mostly) cured. I'm so pleased with the Paperwhite as an ereader, that I now only splurge when a new one is released. I hate to admit though that I've been thinking too much lately about the latest iPad mini even though I never look at my Galaxy Tab.

I see a new device and want it. But then I look at my bank account and start thinking about reasons why I won't buy it, like my old device is still working and my old device has options the new one doesn't have (and ignoring the new options, as I have been able to do without those, all these years, right?)

If I could ignore my bank account, I'd probably be drowning in the devices... |

I'm actually really good. I want and want and want a device/gadget. But then if I do get it, I'm perfectly happy with it for a number of years before I really feel the need to upgrade. So I'm glad about that, for my wallet's health.

When I look at a new device selling for $X, I try to weigh up how much reading enjoyment I would get from it compared to my current device + $X worth of ebooks, and so far the second option has always come out ahead.

No. I have gadget lust, yes. But I don't buy them all. I look for bargains on the ones I really want. I can wait a year or two. I have enough to play with. But I love to read about them, like, constantly.

Only difference: My main motivation isn't the thought, my old unit might be dated. For me, main fun with any new gadgets are the first 2 days. Figuring out the system, tuning it, rooting it and such. When I'm bored or frustrated, those 2 days with a new gadget often are the best distraction I can think of. Too often, I fear... |

I only do this with Kindles. If Amazon announces a new Kindle, I don't even contemplate...I buy it.

I think ereaders and cameras are on par with each other. They're the only devices that I have multiples of (and all in working order) when I only actually need one to serve the purpose.

I guess that they fill the toy niche in my life.
