Circuit City in its final days had a 20 minute guarantee: you ordered online and if the store didn't put it in your hands in 20 minutes for any reason--long line at pickup, for example--you got a discount. Worked well but by then they were past the point of return.

Walmart also often has items in stock and you just pay online, walk in the store to "receiving" or pickup or whatever they call it and take the item and go. I use this feature all the time for cat food and some other large items that may or may not be on the shelves.

They will have my business for the holidays, but if they keep it at $35 come Jan. they will get a lot less of my business.

I have a cart waiting for me right now. Do they have an extended return policy for Christmas gifts and if so when does it start?

Amazon lost two orders from me in the past week because of the new minimum. I placed orders at two different stores where I was able to get the same prices and free shipping.

Combined, the orders would have qualified at Amazon (each was just over $25), but the second order was unplanned, an impulse purchase because of a great sale price.

If I have to look for additional items to meet Amazon's new minimum, it's just as easy to check out another Web site.

Oh well it was fun while it lasted (several years) As of today MA residents are now going to be pay taxes on their purchases from Amazon.

It won't change anything for me since I will still be able to find what I want, NOT have to run out to a store, and NOT have to lug anything back home!

I remember what I went through when we had to start paying sales tax from Amazon in PA. Didn't change much with me on what I ordered from them. In fact, I think I ordered more this year than last.
