Has anyone noticed getting more spam than usual? My Gmail filter is letting a lot more through than normal. I wonder if that has anything to do with my email address being stolen and sold to spammers.

I think it's just gmail. I've got a few gmail accounts and they all have increased in spam in the last month.

![]() I've been paying for Creative Cloud since day one (BTW... It works offline too!). Honestly, it's worth it, especially since I started out with Photoshop, ended up learning Dreamweaver years later when it was still owned by Macromedia, moved onto InDesign, fiddled with Illustrator, and now work with After Effects and Flash 15 years later. You know what hurts Adobe the most? The fact that most people who have been doing any image related work over the last 10 years has made most of their profit using Adobe products, yet have never gave a cent to them for the software. And that Photoshop is *probably* the #1 most pirated program (and torrent) in the world. When your $600 dollar product is seen as freeware to the masses, you have to do something about it, and that's why they went the subscription route. They'd rather lose out to someone like Corel, then have people freeload off their work. We're in a era where no one wants to pay for software, and it's sad that people think that just downloading it illegally for free is perfectly OK. And it was bad that people would ALWAYS get the latest version of Photoshop when it came out, looking for ways to crack it. Honestly, why continue to allow 16 year-olds to dilute the industry with low paid work? |

Jessica you make some valid points, but using the cloud as the future option is not going to stop the programs from being pirated.
More of a challenge perhaps, but just that, a challenge to those people who know how to do these things. It may be far far better if Adobe just put a more reasonable price on its products, prices that are in reach of a great bulk of the population that wants to use the products. Adobe will still make money - maybe not as much - but hey if their market becomes whiter than it is now because the incentive has been lessened to use the black market to access their products, then it's money Adobe never got in the first place. |

Photoshop doesn't need to be cheaper, people just need to stop seeing it as the equivalent of freeware. If they want to pay only $100, they already have choices. People can pay for Pixelmator on a Mac, they have Sketchbook Pro by Autodesk, Painter Lite by Corel, and so on. And if they don't like it, then honestly, look at the bigger picture - That is what a $100 investment gets you.
Simply put - If you can't afford it, then don't use it. Adobe already has Photoshop Elements by the way, people just don't like it because they want the tools that are in the Pro version. And those Pro elements are what makes Photoshop Extended expensive. |

While it's certainly true that lots of people use a pirated copy, this is being offset - to which extent, I do not know - by all the corporate users who have no clue about graphics design, but have the company purchase a photoshop license for them, because that's the name they know. They never even end up using it. I see it in my own company - it's such a waste of money. Ever since I've noticed that, I stopped feeling bad about the losses they incur through pirating.

I didn't get notified about this, but I have started getting spam at the uniquely dotted version of my gmail address I used (a long time ago) for adobe ID -- OBVIOUSLY this was before I started using spamgourmet, and I only ever used it for library books (why did I even bother with an ID, dammit).
So good job adobe on the warnings. |

I saw an article on DPReview today where Adobe now admits that actual number of clients who were hacked is 38 million, not the 2.9 million they originally stated. I've been using Photoshop since version 1 in the 1980s. I currently own CS6 and LR 4.5. But their insistence on pushing me into a rental situation with their cloud is the final straw. I will use CS6 and LR as long as they continue to work, but I won't ever rent software from anyone. And now I have to also deal with the hacking of my account, though Adobe has never said whether it was accessed or not. They merely informed me that it might have been. I would love to see Apple buy them out, at least the imaging business. I doubt any other company would be interested and have the money too.

People don't want to pay $600 for a product to edit their pictures? That's ridiculous! Perhaps they ought to have two price points, one for corporations and one for individuals.
