I'm just going to keep my eye on all the android tablets, mostly the larger ones (10ish). My daughter wants one for her fashion designs and knows the perfect app, just doesn't have a tablet. I would get her a Nexus 7 but not enough screen space. *Sigh* My kids are killing me, but at least their lists are short. That's what I get for having barely-adult children. LOL Does anyone know where to get cheap but good sergers? (it's like a sewing machine) |

The only advice about any type of sewing machine is don't go super cheap. You don't have to go top of the line, but probably stay away from Walmart level. Unless this is her very first machine, and probably won't stick with this hobby for more than a year. I am very lucky, mom gave one of her sewing machines to me. It is over 50 years old, and all metal, none of those plastic gears in it. It still runs great and will sew anything you throw at it. S

Thanks, silverraven, I knew to avoid Wal-Mart already. I have a serger, but she wants her own so she can keep it and not worry about getting it back to me. she forgets she had my seeing machine already. lol. This will last her for years, hopefully. She uses her machines almost daily for her design classes and will need one when she becomes a real designer.

Yeah, I think this may cost you a pretty penny to get her one for something like that. But think of the cool clothes she can make for you! And yeah, it will last forever, so it's an investment. I watch the sewing shows on TV, like Sewing With Nancy, and am amazed at what the machines will do now. I think mine does straight and zig zag stitch, and button holes. Very basic. I've thought of upgrading, but just cant' justify it. Especially not when there are so many other shiny toys I would rather have. Good luck on your search! S

I asked a friend (who operates a site on sewing ) and she recommended this one, if on a budget: http://www.amazon.com/dp/B0000CBK1L/ Quote:
She also recommends trying some at a local store, if possible (not possible in all areas or when giving a gift, I know); if you go mail-order instead, feel free to use her site (it is an affiliate site), if you don't mind her earning a bit for the advice. Here is her disclaimer: Quote:

I'm interested in a PW2 and/or Ipad Mini. I don't expect price reductions but maybe a store will offer gift cards with purchase.

I wish they hadn't discontinued the Samsung Galaxy players. I would have love to buy a 3.6 version but I'm not paying $200 for one when they use to be $130. I wonder if there is anything else like it out there? Can you guys keep an eye out for me. Thanks. I'm basically wanting it for music like the Amazon music app. My SGP5 is just too big for me to carry around. I'm also looking for a super cheap tablet and I do mean cheap it just has to be able to run two video apps by Swagbucks that plays videos all day. My SGP5 has been taken over by those apps and I would like it back. |
