I agree. The reading in dark scenario really puts different kind of pressure on the e-ink reader, be it frontlit, backlit or clip-on/case-light lit. A lot of the concerns I have are specifically to do with reading in darkness where the only light is the reader's.

So far in darkness $69 Kindle (K4B) with it's official lighted cover has been the best, least eye-taxing solution for me.

I'm yet to replace my PW2 with two pin-holes/specks and a majorly crooked screen, but I will once I get around to it.

I'd probably wait 30 days. I got into the exchange lottery and all have been equally bad. Hoepfully QA improves as time goes on.

I'm sorry. That stinks. One of my earlier PW's (that I returned) had a slightly slanted screen too. The top right was a bit off alignment and you could see a black line there and then the line disappeared toward the middle and bottom. The screen was ever so slightly crooked. It had other issues too and it went back. I really think I have experienced pretty much every issue under the sun with both versions of the PW.

The thing is, once you get a great PW2, they really are amazing. I love the one I have now, it's awesome, however it's frustrating if you don't get a good one right off the bat and have to go through the exchange process. Especially when you have to go through it more than once.

Have you considered trying Best Buy for one?

I'd probably take the "even pw2 with very cream screen", but it does suck one has to choose from such options.

Another option is to return all and wait for a better day or buy a $69 Kindle (4B).

Just got my first replacement PW2 after first had a pinhole.

This one also has a pinhole in almost the same place and has added a 'pinscratch' - a glowing line about 5mm long in the opposite bottom corner!

Really disappointed in Amazon. This shoddy product just isn't up to their standards.

I tried 2 at Best Buy. Both had multiple pinholes on each. I have given up the search. I don't have the time to spend trying to find a good PW with a great screen. Maybe ill try again in a month or so (depending on how much use my Air gets).

If I decide I can read on the Air then I will be without a Paperwhite this year.

Do you have these three PW2s? If you're going to keep just one, I'd keep the one that looked the best to you. It doesn't really matter what others think--if you're going to be the one using it.
