I think BearMountainBooks was saying that, once MatchBook is up and running, Amazon might offer something similar to the Matchmaker service, like a page which will show you which of your paper books are enrolled in MatchBook, and for which you can therefore get the Kindle book cheap/free.

I don't think she was suggesting that the link she provided was related to MatchBook, just that something similar might be available for MatchBook.

Yes, I am expecting some sort of link that shows me what is available based on my print book purchases--WHEN it becomes available...

I'd be very surprised if there isn't something like that once the program goes live. Shouldn't be long to wait now

I'm guessing they are trying to talk more publishers into it. Because, people are already buying ebook versions of their favorite pbooks at full price.

Well, I know with auto-rip they just gave you everything, you didn't have to do anything... the MP3s just appeared in your digital library.

But, since all the ebooks won't be free, I did expect something like the matchmaker link. I didn't even know about that link, and I almost bought an audio book, but decided against it. (I don't think the audio book would make me like the book)

Some of the books will be free, some have a "discount." When setting it up (as a writer) if your book costs x, it says, "price from here to here." For a 99 cent e-book, the only option was "Free." For other prices, we had a range to choose--free to about a dollar off whatever the normal ebook price is.

We'll have to wait and see how it works out. They said late October, but they're running out of Late October. Maybe soon!

Oh, I meant to say--audio SO much depends on the narrator. I've tried listening to books that I started and was enjoying only to find that the narrator annoyed. It's gone the other way too. Just depends on the book and the narrator, I guess!

Joykins, You'll have to wait until Amazon announces the details of the program. We all expect some sort of search function similar to the matchmaker audio book search which is already up and running but no one really knows yet.

I was fairly surprised to see I have 29 matches. All are from HarperCollins, or one of it's labels, except for one book from Tor.

Hopefully they'll roll it out to the rest of the world, but I don't expect that to happen any time soon.

I had two...and one of them was one I wrote! Hmph. The other is from a small publisher and I don't have any need for an ecopy. I started thinking about it and it occurs to me that I've bought a lot of mass market (which is going to be the big publishers--the last ones to enter the program and then only under protest) and a lot of used books.

I got 5 hits, all from the same author, but nothing from what I'd consider mainstream. I've got the same problem as others, though. I buy a lot from Amazon partners, and somehow I don't think they count.
