jgoguen: The current version of the device database is 89. A WiFi upgrade to 2.8.1 will probably use 88, but an upgrade to any version using the current version of the Kobo desktop app will give 89. And I don't know why Kobo updated the DB version number as there are no changes in the schema.

An update will be posted later today (from my UTC-3 perspective, sorry everyone who's ahead of me) to allow DB version 89.

I've posted a new version that should support DB version 89. Not even going to guess at why the identical DB has two different versions depending where you got it from...

I've also started enabling support for translations. I'm using Launchpad Translations to facilitate the process. If you're fluent in a non-English language, and you want to to help translate, go to https://translations.launchpad.net/calibre-kobo-driver and set up a Launchpad account if you don't already have one. Set the languages you want to translate at https://translations.launchpad.net/+editmylanguages and start translating

Translations will affect this plugin and the conversion plugin at the same time.

I have a question about the translations, some terms should be translate, because they concern references to code for example: A valid file name must be given (got: {filename})

In the last section, the "got" shouldn't be translate, correct?

This is my first time translating, so I'm unsure if I should just translate every word or not.

Just made my contribution, translating to Portuguese, however it is incomplete, I don’t know the exact translation for some words related with informatics, hope someone else can finish it.

So after many restars of both kobo and calibre and a usb port change, it worked. Lately I've been getting some errors like this, anyone knows why this happens?

Don't translate stuff inside braces but translate everything else. So for the string:

Code:

Failed to parse '{book}' by '{author}' with error: '{error}'

The German translation (according to iGeorg) would be:

It would be interesting to know if it happens with other books and if it happens again now that it's working. I'll need to make a note to include the specific subclass of Error being raised, may help track things down. For now just wait for the next plugin version, which will require the not-yet-released calibre 1.9.0.

This has happen before, one time the book just would upload, I converted epub to epub, then uploaded and the it worked. Another time that happen there was a author problem in the metadata, I had to change the multiple author data to just one author, and I think other times I just unplugged and replugged the kobo. It's just plain weird.
I really hope it's. Bug in calibre or the plugin, don't get me wrong, but a bug would be more easily fixed then a new laptop or kobo
