Original Paperwhites?
Looking for first generation paperwhites for my folks for Christmas, but I cannot seem to find them anywhere for anything like a reasonable price. A lot of the ones on Ebay etc are either faulty, or are virtually the same price as a brand new 2nd generation!

So my question is, where is a good, trustworthy place to look for decently priced 1st gens, second hand or overstock?

You are unlikely to find a low priced one at this time. I think you'd be better off getting them the current model. I got rid of my first one due to the uneven lighting, and I'd be afraid to get another, for the same reason. Maybe people did receive good units, but those people are probably not getting rid of them!

More or less precisely what I was looking for! Amazon themselves don't seem to make a great effort to advertise the fact they offer refurbs, I had no idea that page existed. Thanks!

I got my current Kindle Keyboard as a refurb. I dropped the original one (just after the warranty had run out of course) which cracked the screen substrate so it ceased working and I got a refurb for 60 odd bucks. Alas that one had some OS problems but thanks to the warranty I was able to exchange it for my current one. Nice to see they are continuing that trend with the Paperwhite.
