				Reading with one eye shut?

I have noticed sometimes when reading I find myself reading with one eye shut... (my weakest eye).. when this happens, I reposition book, refocus and back to normal with both eyes.. does anyone else find themselves doing this? if so, why? and what is the solution, problem etc.. is this abnormal or am I just a weirdo?

Nope, but then one of my eyes (the left one) doesn't work, so it wouldn't matter if I closed it or not.

Get your eyes examined for glasses. But even still, your eyes will automatically sort themselves out so that you will read with the strongest eye. This is perfectly natural.

I read with my right eye, even though my left eye doesn't need quite as strong a lens, my body automatically makes my right eye the reader. |

The longer I read the more tired my eyes get, and the more I notice my weakest eye closing.

No both my eyes are open, but I notice that I read with just my right eye. It was more apparent when I read paper books. Just like I automatically reach for things with my right hand, I read with my right eye.

Both my eyes are functionally the same according to my eye exams. Being older I need reading glasses. Any strength will do, but I use pretty strong ones for reading in bed. Reader is closer to my face.

I just use cheap reading glasses and sometimes a lens will drop out and I don't notice it for a while. So I must be reading with one eye. But it could be either lens and I am no worse off until I actually notice. Bizarre eh. Helen |

I read predominately with my right eye, however for a while I had CSR and my right eye reading vision was hosed. I had to physically close my right eye to read properly.

My stronger eye tends to take over, too. I notice it when reading in the dark on a lit device and then looking into the dark room: the eye that did the reading is blinded from the light (room looks darker) while the other eye sees better in the dark. This is more pronounced with a backlit device, but happens with the Glo as well.

This usually only happens to me if I start to read after I've just woken up in the morning. I can't recall if it's a particular eye - or totally random. But I have much more trouble keeping both eyes open in general after I've woken up so it's quite noticeable when I try to read.
