You can also communicate with Amazon via chat.

I don't think you can use that automated return service for a Kindle. For that, you need to talk to a kindle specialist either via phone or, as ProfCash mentioned, chat.

24h later: I really, really like my PW2. The contrast is good, and I love the quick scrolling. Plus I am under the impression (but maybe I am mistaken) that it is much quicker than my PW1. Note that I have more books on PW1 than on PW2, so that could also play a role.
I had updated my Aura HD in the meantime, so played a lot with the three of them, and the PW2 wins hands down. Then comes the PW1 and the Aura HD, although much nicer now with 2.9.0 and the integration of Pocket, still comes last, mainly due to its design, its bluish light compared to the PWs and still quirky (much better than 2.8.1 though) SW. |

The KPW2 has a 25% faster processor. That should certainly be noticable in doing things like opening big books and looking up words in the dictionary.

It's definitely noticeably faster to me as well!

I dumped 433 books (some complete collections of authors so closer to 600 books in size) on my PW2 when I got it. They loaded insanely fast. I know under 10 minutes but probably under 5. Hey, I was chasing a toddler around so timing it was hard. I imported my collections and all the books were sorted into collections in about 2 minutes.
The PW2 is pretty darn fast. My K3 required loading books in stages. |

You can sort 600 books into collections in 2 minutes?
I'll send you my KPW1. Even sending it back and forth will be faster than me sorting them myself. I'll pay you $60 an hour. Having the stuff sorted for $2 almost instantly sounds very good ![]() |

I checked and BB does not carry them. On the kobo website, it seems to be the only device that you can only order through them directly.

I called for a replacement last night and spoke to a really nice PW2 specialist. He is sending me a replacement and having the pee PW2 picked up.
I told him that a lot of folks are upset about losing the possibility to load their own fonts on the PW2, and that, apart from the utter boredom that the same set of boring fonts create over the course of months, that this is an accessibilty issue, as dyslexic readers and readers with eye problems need to be able to load their own fonts. He was actually surprised to find out that alternative fonts are no longer (inofficially) supported, promised me to pass on my comments, and also assured me that they read each and every email that comes through the kindle feedback email (mentioned somewhere further up in this thread, I don't recall it now), and encouraged me to send suggestions there, as Amazon is where it is because they listen to customer feedback, good and bad. And, BTW, he apologized for my bad experience. Firstly, this, my friends, is why Amazon is unbeaten, and why they have me as a loyal customer. Secondly, I will send an email with screenshots, showing the old PW1 and my preferred custom font, and the PW2 next to each other. I encorage you all to do the same. Maybe they WILL listen if enough of us complain. |

If you count loading the books and then importing the collections it took about 5-10 minutes. Smooth process. I did have books that I had to hand sort. It took about 10 minutes to sort those ones but I was distracted watching the little guy. |

I sent an email to the feedback address about my experience, and the quality control issues. I'm thinking of trying again in a month or two.
