Thank you, xendula!! The darkness of the font appears pretty much the same as on my PW1, but the screen background is a shade whiter/creamier so in that way the contrast seems maybe a little bit better - at least in the light I'm using it in now. I have not read with it in a darkened room yet, so the light hasn't really come into play yet, I'll see how I find it then. Seems like that Best Buy mobile shop was my good luck charm store!

p.s. For also doubters in this thread, I'm sure all of us just want to enjoy our Kindles. When we or one amongst us finally gets a good one, it is good news. It is not looking for trouble where none exists. Sometimes good ones just a hard to find.

I'm patiently (or maybe not so patiently ) waiting for the arrival of my PW2! They started shipping it to my part of the world yesterday and it's already in Germany, so hopefully it won't be long! Although knowing my luck, it will spend more time at customs than it didn't flying across the Atlantic, hehe
