I would argue a well integrated cover light on an e-reader, such as the official Amazon covers and the like, is conceptually beyod a clip-on light attached to a book. Also, thanks to advancements in LED technology, newer lights are more practical.

But of course, some may prefer a traditional reading light too. Any Kindle would work great with that. And sure, some like lighted screens.

Maybe I will grow into the PW in time, especially if the non-PWs are discontinued. As my first Kindle, though, it makes sense to start with the more established brand.

Look up 'selection bias'. You seem not to be aware it exists. (In particular, those who have exceptional health, such that they need no medical interventions, are naturally especially likely not to be dead -- but that does not imply that those who do need medical interventions will necessarily be killed by them, though of course many do carry a certain degree of risk.)

Sirmaru, I think everyone here is dying to know your age at this point. Would you share that with us? Are you an actual centenarian?

I think a lot of us would literally freak out if one day, you stopped posting here, what with all your comments about age and death probability!!

Soooo.... I was in the mall today and just happened to notice a Best Buy mobile. You all probably know where this is going.

They had the PW2 in stock. I wasn't sure they carried them at the mobile stores, but they do. A rep came over and asked me if I had any questions. I told him no, but I asked if they carried the Kindle PW2. He said they did. I asked him if they've been having any returns on them and told him how I tried 3 PW2's previously and explained to him the problems I had. He said he wasn't sure about the returns, but he asked me if I wanted to buy one and have a look at it in the store first. I said, can I return it on the spot if I see issues? He said sure, no problem. He was super nice about it. I wasn't sure if I had to wait to return it or not, as I've heard you do, but he said no worries, you can return it right away.

Long story short, I shockingly managed to get a good one.

He let me look at it for awhile, he was very patient about it. I saw NO pinholes or color hues. I thought maybe when I got back to work with it I'd see something, but it looks perfect! I even checked it out in the office bathroom with the light off. hee hee. The screen is not as yellow as the others I had, but it is more creamy than my PW1. The contrast looks pretty good too!

I have my PW1 at work with me and I've compared them side by side and so far, so good! I believe I finally have a keeper!!!

Oh wow! I was going to let go of the idea for now, but maybe I'll try one last time after all. Is the contrast better than on the PW1 you have?
