They did but I am don't think it will be eInk. I think we will see Microsoft Surface Tablets re-branded as Nooks. What I hear about Surface isn't promising.

The software on the e-ink Nook models and the customer service is lightyears behind Amazon. I have no experience with Kobo, so I'm not sure if the same is true there, but I suspect it might be.

I converted from the Nook Simple Touch with Glowlight to the Paperwhite 1/2, and would never go back. Even if Barnes & Noble releases another e-ink reader (which I honestly doubt will happen), I don't think it will be a prime choice.

I kinda disagree.. I think they will have a new reader soon... they are broken, but not broke.. they are downsizing many stores and probably will dump the price of their Nooks again before Christmas.. "I could be wrong, but I doubt it".. LOL.. but they are in Hot Water..

I don't think that's fair. The Kindle UI has some nice features, but the old Nook ST has folders which is superior to Kindle collections. Also it allows custom fonts, unlike the Kindle which no longer does and seems to be going backwards when it comes to user customization. I think the Kobo is also much better for font customization than the new Kindle. The Kindle seems to be going into lock-down.

In fact, the whole issue of Amazon locking down the Kindle fonts is not getting enough air-time. To not allow users to add their own fonts is going way too far. I am not aware of any other e-reader that has ever done that. It is possible to embed fonts, but it's a massive pain and a horrid kludge and and beyond the ability of the vast majority of users.

I have the KPW1 and 2.. 2 best by far. I don't go snooping for Pinholes etc.. even lighting pattern for me is the most important factor.. My Kobo Aura has perfect even lighting .. the KPW2 is right there with it now.. but I do like the Kindle Store.. I don't do sideloading or the other shortcuts..

If you can't see the pinholes in those images than you are not qualified to comment on the quality of screens. They are extremely obvious to me, and my eyesight is only average.

I think they will use the Holidays to get rid most of the eInk stock. I really will be shock if they release a new eInk reader.

I was never able to utilize those folders. Being that I sideloaded content, I put my books on an SD card. The NST had a nasty habit of somehow resetting and wiping the SD card books from shelves. Consistently. After wasting my time a couple times making shelves, it p'ed me off sufficiently to just stop trying.

And before anyone asks why I didn't just not use the SD card, only 250mb or whatever it was of the 2gb was available for sideloaded content. That wasn't enough for the books I wanted on there. I hated having to connect to USB any time I wanted to add/delete anything, so I wanted a bunch on there at once.

Anyway, my experience with the NST/NSTWGL was not a very positive one. Especially after gaining the perspective of the Paperwhite. It is much better, IMO.

Also their (lack of) customer service was off-putting, compared to the postiive experiences I've had with Kindle CS.

Sometimes I wonder why companies do some of this stuff of which they *KNOW* that customers will be ticked off... like only having 256MB of space available for books. LOL. I've got some omnibus books from Delphi that are >=100MB on their own.

I don't need 256-gazillion gigabyte, but 256MB is so... 2007.

It be worse. The Kindle app on Microsoft Surface only has 250MB for the app and books. Kindle users complain to both Amazon and Microsoft for a fix last I checked nothing yet.

Wow Sparklemotion that is one really defective screen. I can't believe it got passed QC!
The shadows at the bottom are still visible although they are not as obvious as those on the PW1. Am I right?
