Well said GoSharks, I really wish you would read posts properly before replying sirmaru..... you are saying Amazon will legally sell Kindle's that can't be registered (i.e. stolen or lost therefore blacklisted?) to a wholesaler for them to sell on.

I received one PW2, then a replacement for it. I could see the stage shadows at the bottom on both at some light levels, but they are much, much less pronounced than on the PW1s I received last year - but they are still there, and, as I said, only noticeable at specific light levels.
My two have other issues for which I sent one back already and sending the other one back next week.

Any one use the image view/zoom/pan feature yet on their PW2? I did so last night with a map image in a book I'm reading. It works, but it is a bit flaky. I kept seeing multiple (2 or 3) page refreshes, especially when zooming and panning. The result is that if you zoom or pan it takes a while to settle down and re-focus on the image. Like I said it works, but it is slow and clunky.

Of course Amazon does NOT sell stolen units. No one should buy them on eBay either. Purchasing stolen property is a felony in many states.

I really doubt even eBay would allow stolen property to be sold there. Something is wrong with the entire story.

Finally, trying to activate a stolen PW, would allow Amazon to report it to the police.

Yes that is the point we are trying to make, but you are just after replying to say that "it is likely the eBay seller got his inventory LEGALLY as a wholesale buyer from Amazon".

Read CAREFULLY what I said. No way would Amazon or eBay allow stolen units to be sold. The person, who reported they purchased a stolen unit, is either LYING or MISTAKEN. Ebay also does not allow stolen units of any brand to be sold there.

If anyone purchased a stolen unit anywhere, it should be turned over to the police. It is CONTRABAND and illegal to keep it. If it was purchased on eBay, it should be reported to eBay as well. Just remember, the PURCHASER of stolen property may also be committing a felony if he did that knowingly.

Oh, and the pseudo logic : "he bought it on ebay. ebay does not allow stolen units to be sold on its website. Thus the units cannot be stolen" does not work. Find a better one.

Both posts are correct. The seller probably got a REGISTERABLE unit and the person reporting it here is WRONG.

I'd like to see a link where anyone is selling UNREGISTERABLE Paperwhites anywhere.

Ebay buyers can RETURN any stolen unit to the seller and PayPal would IMMEDIATELY freeze the funds of the seller. Once I purchased an item through eBay which got delayed in transit. I called PayPal and they froze the entire account of the seller. The seller was very upset but he could do nothing about it. Not only were my funds in his account frozen, but ALL HIS funds were frozen. That is the way it works.

So as per usual, everyone else is wrong and you are right.

Your total disregard for what people post, how they must be mistaken or are just wrong (even in the case of PW screens where they post photos showing the issue), is exactly why I don't bother replying to your posts.
