I found it interesting reading his obituaries that he was visited by government agents who wanted to know how he obtained classified information. He persuaded them that all his research was done with unclassified material.

He'd never been sick, then round Thanksgiving that year it was found he had liver cancer (he'd had no symptoms) and right after Christmas that year he died. You don't have to be old or have had bad health for a long period of time before dying though.
Sounds like my brother-in-law. Everything is a conspiracy to him. Though I'm not sure he would even know who Tom Clancy is. Don't know if he's ever even read a book outside of school years. Not that it's a crime not to, but he manages to read every piece of conspiracy crap on the internet and swears that it's gospel because "It's all over the internet."

LOL

Ubisoft's Splinter Cell series of blockbuster stealth games is great stuff.

Ditto that.

I re-read that one every few years.

He used to be one of my favorite authors, but when he franchised himself and took on co-authors, I stopped reading him.

I found the following at an updated copy of his Wikipedia page:
Quote:
John Gresham, a co-author and researcher with Clancy on several books attributed Clancy's death to heart problems: "Five or six years ago Tom suffered a heart attack and he went through bypass surgery. It wasn’t that he had another heart attack, [his heart] just wore out.
Hopefully it will put any conspiracy theories still floating round out there to rest.

Dream on. Facts have no effect on conspiracy theories.

RIP. He's been one of my "must read" authors (his fiction, anyway) for a long time. Unlike many, I don't mind the coauthor books. I like the Dune extensions, I like the Bourne series post Ludlum. No, they aren't "as good", but they are still entertaining to me.

I'll keep reading the Jack Ryan Jr. books as I'm sure they will continue to be written.

I have read quite a few of his earlier novels and I really liked them!
