Halo books 1 & 2?

I was looking on amazon a couple of days ago for some sci-fi to read, and saw some of the Halo books were available. On looking into it, the Halo books Fall of Reach and The Flood both seem to be unavailable. This was the case on both amazon.com and uk. I was wondering whether anyone else had encountered this? Please leave feedback as I would be interested to know.

I'm able to access them on Amazon.com with an Australian account; The Fall Of Reach and The Flood. Have you tried any other ebook vendors? I've also found them on Kobo here and here. I hope one of these links works for you!

They're available from the US as well.

Many thanks to both of you. I don't know why they don't release these two in the UK as all the others are available. Probably one o those things.

Odd that they're not available. I'm pretty sure when I bought mine it was from FictionWise, but there's none listed at all on there now, likely that way since the move over to B&N.

@Marsi: Those kobo links show the books as not currently available when I click them. If they're still showing for you, maybe it's a US/UK rights issue?

I suspect it is a rights issue. Its strange that some are available and some aren't. Maybe the ones that are available are the ones published by Orbit, whereas the first two are both by Tor. Although that does not make sense either, as the most recent novels are by Tor and you can buy those as ebooks.

I agree with Waylander; it likely is a rights issue -- I'd bet the money geo-restrictions save me on it! I've frequently clicked on links provided by Americans and Brits and had them come up as not available. I had hoped that you might get lucky with Kobo over the pond, since Amazon doesn't have the rights! I know that there's a link somewhere in Amazon to request that they ask the publisher for rights to a Kindle version, but for the life of me I've never been able to find it -- perhaps it's only available to US customers.

It's on the paperback version, usually, below the book image. I've done it once or twice. I've also emailed publishers and asked, and had some positive results. It's always worth a try. It might just be an oversight.

It does look like the paperbacks of the first two were published by Orbit in the UK, which is probably why Tor can't sell their ebook versions here.

I set up an Amazon.com account and can now access them, but thanks for your very helpful suggestions.
