I read The Last Hour of Gann last week, and I loved it! I highly recommend it, especially for sci-fi romance lovers and perhaps for dystopian/post-apocalytic lovers as well. It was worth every penny of that $6.50. The book is massive, like a trilogy all in one.

The sample is a good (and long) representation of the book, so I recommend trying it first. I was a bit scared to buy it b/c of what I'd heard about some of the author's other books. I got it from amazon, so I could return it in the event of "offensive content". After all that trepidation, I loved it! I can barely bring myself to read anything else, b/c I keep thinking about it. It wasn't perfect or flawless, but I gave it 5 stars. Will likely re-read it at some point.

It isn't so much the angst but how dark or too sexy most paranormals are. I cut my teeth on Lynsay Sands vampires novels but even though now days her newest have lost more and more of its humor and charm.

I can name the authors on one hand that write lighthearted paranormals
  1. Lynsay Sands
  2. Molly Harper
  3. Ashlyn Chase
  4. Jessica Sims
  5. Sandra Hill

These sorta fall into the category but not quite.

Vicki Lewis Thompson: Her werewolves series contains humor and would be somewhat on the lighthearted side.
Shelly Laurenston: her books contain humor but she can be a bit too sexy and not lighthearted enough.
Erin McCarthy: She has a vampire series but she doesn't write for the genre.

We need more of these types of books. Authors can have fun with the supernatural, it doesn't need to be dark and serious all the time.

I don't want to be 'spoilered' but I do have a couple of questions. I'll send you a PM

So I guess the Gann book is Amazon only? Not seeing it listed at Kobo or ARe.

No it doesn't *pouts* Okay nine of those books were just 99 cents so I guess that makes me feel a tad better.

I read Argeneaus's books and I'm liking a lot Jessica Simm's books. Molly Harper not much and Sandra Hill not at all. I like Thompson's werewolves and Shelly Laurenston (not G.A. Aiken) is an autobuy for me, and one of the few authors I can reread her books a lot.

And I agree with fun.
