Unless something's changed recently, you can't shut off an eink Kindle. A 7 second hold on the power button shuts off the screen but not the Kindle itself.

Mine doesn't go to a blank screen - just stays on the set up screen with all the languages. I notice when I try it with my new PW it gives me the option on the screen with a Pop Up box to go into Cancel / Restart / Power Off
Is that new? I don't remember seeing that on PW1

The only other option (holding down the power button) was restarting. I get the blinking green light and then the blinking orange light and then it restarts.

They'll just have to live with it. I charged it up and if it runs down, it's not my problem.

It may have changed for the KPW2. I haven't gotten one yet. I've had a K2, K3, and a KPW1 and they all had a screen shutdown at roughly seven seconds of holding the power button. It you hold any longer on the power button than the instant the screen shuts off, the unit reboots.

That is what I thought too and I held it for longer than 7 seconds on the PW2 after I reset it, but it wouldn't leave that screen. It was odd. So maybe it is different on the PW2?

Not sure about that--even though the 650 (and 350) have touch screens and the ability to turn pages with a tap on the screen (with the PRS+ mod), I still found myself using the page turn buttons most of the time. Page turn buttons would make the KPW2 better for me, but I'm sure I'll eventually get used to not having buttons.

Last year, I had preordered a KPW1. I got replacement for the color issues. I ended up getting 3 replacements before I gave up, all of which had worse issues than the original, which I ended up keeping. The picture posted was one I added to Amazon's customer photos, of replacement #1 (left) and the original (right). So yes, two different KPW1s, both with similar issues.

The KPW2 I preordered arrived almost perfect for me, but with light leak on the lower right corner which was a distraction in low light conditions. My replacement for it arrived today, and I'm happy to say that I am very pleased with it. No color blotches like the 4 KPW1s I went through, no pinholes/dust trapped in the screen, even lighting, and no light leaks.

Sirmaru and those of you who didn't see any color blobs on the PW1 last year and the PW2 pictures posted in this thread, any chance you could take it as well? I have a feeling that your numbers would be higher, which is not really a bad thing, just different color "acuity".

Well I don't have color blobs on mine so here's my test result. I am very partial color and for years have design web graphics and websites so I have an eye for color and picking out things that aren't right. It's something you learn when acquiring these skills. I can see the color blobs in users pics though I've never seen it in real life on mine.

Nope. Astigmatism is more my problem than hyperopia, and changing the size of the font does not change anything for me. I read with small fonts very well, as long as I have my glasses. If I don't have them, I need to have a larger font indeed, but the letters are all funny anyway. And I have very cute glasses

I am very worried about the impossibility to use various dictionaries at the same time. I love that feature on my PW1...
