YAY! I received the new Paperwhite and thank goodness, it's better than the first one. The text is nice and crisp, and black this time!!! The whiter background color is not apparent in the daylight, I have to take it into a dark room and close the door and then I can tell the difference. Although I have to say I prefer the blue white of the first generation of the Paperwhite, like in diamonds
![]() One thing I was really hoping for in this generation was that they had made the left margin for page return smaller darn it. Sometimes you just want to hold it with your left hand - didn't they think of that? |

![]() I am really sorry you didn't find a good PW2 in the end but I can imagine, even the thought of a pinhole makes my skin crawl. I tried to take lots of pictures of my PW1 with different cameras but I cannot achieve what I see in reality ![]() |

Are you kidding??

In a normal reading pane fonts only occupy less than 10% of screen mass and background 90%. The odds of seeing those on a letter must be a 100 to 1 against the occurrence. Even if you saw it on a letter, it would not impede reading the font. Accumulated dust would be far more of a problem and could be just cleaned off on a periodic basis if it became noticeable. The only way they would be noticeable is if you used white fonts on a black background and, even then, they would be irrelevant. That is the reason that not one of the one star reviews on the PW 2013 page at Amazon has even mentioned pin holes. Order another PW 2013 and just live with "problems" like that if it happens again. It is really a great reading device. Last edited by sirmaru; 10-03-2013 at 04:20 PM. |

- people are imagining pinholes - blotches only exist cause people imagine them - there are X 5-stars review on Amazon - ... It seems you have a bad sight so please could you stop arguing about something you've never even seen on any paperwhite ? If I turn on a new LCD monitor and if there's a dead pixel, that's the first thing I'm gonna see. You'd just probably never see it, that's doesn't mean it doesn't exist. ![]() |

Dead pixels on TV's don't bother me.

However, we all have different tolerance zones for problems. Mine are very forgiving. Some folks run to the doctor for a single pain. I've had serious pains in my long life and never treated any of them. Somehow, all my friends, who did treat them, are all DEAD. However, we all have different pain tolerances as well. The proper forum for reporting problems with the PW 2013 is the page for it on Amazon. I have read all the one star reviews and not one of them mentioned pin holes. It is possible that my particular vision problems bury all the PW problems reported here. In that case I am interpreting from my own perception and others interpret it from their perceptions. Just got my KPW2! When I checked the tracking this morning, it said it was "out for delivery" so I've been anxiously awaiting its arrival.
Only had time for a quick look at it on my lunch hour. So far, I'm very pleased--screen coloring looked very even--will be spending some time setting it up this evening and transferring my books to it. I'll report back here later ![]() |

But getting back on topic. Seeing you admitted that we all have different tolerance levels how about cutting others some slack on their Kindles instead of countering every negative post? What may not bother you may drive others crazy. Amazon should deliver a perfect product if it's new. It's that simple. It shouldn't have flaws and we shouldn't be beta testers. When I buy something new I expect it to be just that new without blemish. If not I will exchange it or return it and try something else. |

I know what you mean about taking pictures, it's really tough to capture it as you see it. Plus there's always that risk that someone may point out something you don't see. I'm afraid to post PW pics now for that very reason. ![]() ![]() |
