Books not displaying

Hello all

Some background, I have had my kobo aura for 2 weeks (on my 2nd copy) and pin pricks aside it has been fine. I transferred all my books using calibre and set up shelves ok.

At the weekend I out of the blue started experiencing the frozen book issue whereby the 2nd time I open a book the page freezes.

I have tried numerous things to try and fix both using calibre and not and yesterday resorted to manually dragging the original vanilla epubs using my windows work PC. I have also factory reset several times.

I now have the strangest issue which is that any files I transfer now using my mac either using finder or calibre do not display on the device, they are on there they just do not show up on the reader. If I navigate using finder all the files are there but have a file type of Unix for some reason.

Any ideas appreciated.

No doubt more comments will follow, but did this happen with a specific book? On two occasions months apart I had a lot of grief with a single epub book (one from the MR library, one bought). I solved the problem by getting rid of the book(s) and rebuilding the database (which you do by logging out and in again on the device) - this will lose you any bookmarks and annotations that you may have on your books, though. I would sync the device first, so that at least you can retrieve this info by doing a sync afterwards.
Of course, do wait for more comments before doing anything (at least, I hate losing my notes), in case there are any less drastic solutions proposed.

Thanks, cannot narrow it down to a particular book.

Are you ejecting the Aura before you disconnect it from your computer? Sounds like a corrupted database on the computer and if it's happening consistently that would be my first thought.

Yes it always eject it. What is baffling me is the books do not show for both calibre and mac finder drag/drop but seems to copy ok on a PC?
