If that's the case I wish they'd say so. Having stuff coupon eligible one day and not the next with no explanation is a bummer.

It is, but it seems like a typical Kobo move.

Well this sucks. I wish the publishers would lower their prices. Although they would make less money per book, they would sell more books, and I bet they would make more money overall. I bought more books at 50% off than I did in all of 2012 and most of those were from the big six (now five with the Penguin/Random House merger). It's so easy for me to justify spending $5.00 or less on a book. At $10 or more I'd rather wait for the title to become available at the library, even if it means checking out a physical copy or waiting in an extremely long queue for the digital format when available. Very few books are worth $10 to own, but many are worth $5.00 or less.

Exactly. I bought the four books in the first Hawkmoon series by Michael Moorcock. They are back catalog titles from Tor (written in the late 60's). I have paperback copies of them, but I'm not going to pay $10 each to replace my paperbacks. Google Play has them for $8.89, but I think I've seen them for $7.99 somewhere, but that's still a bit pricey just to replace paperbacks... At $5 each, though, I bought them all and would have bought the second trilogy if it had been available.

I, too, bought a few books that I already owned in paperback/hardcover so that I would also have a digital copy. I also went ahead and purchased some Penguin classics for less than $5.00, even though they were available from other sources for free, because the footnotes and formatting were worth a few dollars. I would have gone with the free versions if they hadn't been 50% off.

That's what needs to happen. Any pricing scheme that makes a licensed ebook in one digital format more expensive than the street price of a print book is just plain dumb.

I'm looking forward to seeing how the MatchBook rollout will affect things, although I think that's almost as boneheaded a name for the program as Kindle is for a reader. (Has nobody at Amazon read Fahrenheit 451?)

Hachette have stopped accepting coupons on the UK site too

I got most of my US buying done with the Sept50 code, but when the BookRiot50 code showed up I decided to leave my UK buying 'til later, so it looks like I might have missed out for now. All those expensive Hachette books will just have to stay on my wishlist.

I'm in similar straits. While I bought most of what I wanted with Sept50, once BookRiot50 showed up I decided I'd hold off on the rest for a couple of weeks. And why? You'd think I'd learn....

...but clearly I don't.

The silver lining is that this time around I did finish buying Waugh while he was couponable.

Well so much for adding to my Star Wars collection. No more discounts available for them either. Oh well more money in my pocket on payday tomorrow.

I bought a Penguin book yesterday and the coupon worked. Perhaps it's geographically restricted or it could be beacause I still have old site.

Amen! Even if they price the ebook the same as the print book, I can go to Barnes & Noble or Books-A-Million and get at least 10% off the cover price with membership, but they refuse to apply membership discounts to ebooks similarly, which makes the price of the print book cheaper.

Ditto. I bought the things I REALLY wanted, but figured I'd hold off since the BookRiot50 coupon extended the 50% off sale an extra pay cycle. I still have a few items I will probably use the BookRiot50 on, but not as many as I had originally anticipated.

Ahem not that I would be the sort of person to say "I told you so" but I do recall saying something along the line of "you would kick yourself" if you didn't buy buy buy

Some books from Penguin & others are still couponable if you select the country as Vietnam or Argentina...
