Does anyone remember how long it was before aftermarket cases came out for the HD? I'd really like to get one; I keep my Aura in it's neoprene case safely in a drawer when not in use but I'd fell better if it were in a sleep cover.

The problem I have with the freezing is that once it happens the book (and it is different books) have to be removed which if I am away from home is a major pain.

I just checked Skin Digital - but they haven't got any advertised there yet. I got my Glo cover from them.

This thread is terrible news. I was hoping Kobo could be competition for Amazon, but, I am afraid I will have to get a Kindle Paperwhite 2. Maybe next time.

Is this store any good?
I see they ship worldwide but I reckon I'll get tax when it arrived here.

I used to have a Glo, got my cover from here: http://www.caseable.com/
I like it cos the skin can be customized and they can ship from Germany (so for European no tax when arrived as it is already taxed in Germany). I don't see Aura listed yet, but for Glo cover, it is actually the same size as their Kindle cover. It works pretty well for protection.

This time I will try the DIY sleepcover I've seen someone posted in the forum.

I got my cover for the Aura HD from Skin Digital and am very happy with it. Didn't pay any import tax either. Then again, I'm in Taiwan, not in the Netherlands so I don't know whether you'll have to pay tax.

So far I have been taxed for purchases from outside of EU.
There was one time the product was worth €35 or so and I need to pay €17 on top of that when collecting the package... *eyes rolling*

Oh well.

Back on track:
I have another Kobo Aura today, I will see if it is better than the one I have. Probably keep it if it is acceptable to my eyes. I also ordered Kobo Aura HD (since where I live, the price different isn't so much anymore)... so there's also a chance that I keep the HD instead since so many people is much happier with this choice.

PW2 screen looked awesome tho (impressions from the Kindle forum).

as for sleepcovers, it is so sad to see that there are no "snapback" ones as for the Aura HD - i've just got this in chat with Kobo people.

Edit:

Okay, I think there are or will be. When looking at the pictures there's one which snaps to the side of the Kobo. It's a pink one and you can see the snap on the side with the kobo logo.

I registered just so I could comment. I received my Aura on the 23rd Sept. It had some of the light pinpricks, but I wasn't overly concerned.

But then, after less than a week of use, I noticed light bleeding from the lower right and left sides of the device. Upon closer inspection, I could see that the top most layer of the screen was coming away at these points. It was raising above the bezel by less than a millimetre, but it was allowing the light to escape from the sides of the device. I could push it back down, but whatever adhesive they used wouldn't hold and it just kept raising. The Aura had never left the Kobo Sleep cover I ordered with it.

After taking some photos, I contacted Kobo and the unit is being RMAd. I was surprised at how painless the process was, although I was miffed that the Aura wan't up to scratch since this is my first foray into the Kobo world. Here's hoping the replacement hasn't any issues. My Nook Glow will suffice until then.

Updates. The second Aura I received:

1. No yellowish part on top, the lights and screen coloration is even...
2. I have 2 pinholes (instead of 1 but this doesn't bother me)
3. There's a scratch on the right bezel, as reported by someone in this thread.
4. There's still that bright light line on top. So annoying. I can actually overlook everything if this is not there.

I don't get it. How can a company that had produced the best screen previously can come up with this?

I also ordered an Aura HD. I am super impress with the sharpness and crispness of the fonts. The screen is much whiter and even. It made you think wth happen with Aura.

So, as much as I love the form factor and the flush bezel, I just can't wrap my head around the screen quality. I'm keeping the Aura HD instead.

Hello boys and girls, i know some of you who live in US bought the Aura through Chapters Indigo in Canada, how reliable are they in their shipping service across the country?

well, thanks!

At least yesterday I saw one "in flesh" at my FNAC Store. It was flawless (the Kobo Aura, not the FNAC Store ) : no pinpricks nor light leakage that I could see. It's terribly tempting, but as it's "the crisis" I won't be able to get one for the moment. I think I could offer one to myself as my own christmas gift
