I just got mine. I'll post more impressions and pictures later, but for now: The screen:
The rest
I think you can tell by the tone of this entry that I am not as over the top happy as I thought I would be... That's because of the pinholes |

By adding some font that the Kindle doesn't like.... maybe an analogy... similar to adding a book that it doesn't like? There are dozens of threads in this forum on that topic.

I wouldn't even be surprised if both Kindles would run the same firmware at some point, only omitting features that need the new hardware; such as the screen refresh after more pages. I think, if Amazon wanted to, they could actually port some of the features to the Touch, but I don't think they will.

It is with the light on. Warm white LEDs are better for your brain and your health. Blueish white LEDs may make it harder for your brain in the evening/at night to feel sleepy. They could mess with your biological clock. Some studies suggest that blueish LEDs are bad for your eyes too. http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Light_e...rcadian_rhythm http://www.livescience.com/31949-led...ye-damage.html http://www.cclvi.org/contributions/effects1.htm

xendula, you might try a good eyeglass cleaner just to make sure there isn't some residue on the outer surface of the screen causing the pinholes. I doubt that is the issue, but it doesn't hurt to give it a try. Occasionally I see what look like pinholes on my iPad screen but a good cleaning gets rid of them. |
