Hi,
This was interesting, so I tried it out by following two websites: http://tinyapps.org/docs/e-ink-monitor.html http://www.techhive.com/article/2595...c_display.html , and had the similar problem. This discussion has helped me to work this out. This is a photo file of it: http://cl.ly/image/3T2K0n390z2F The display did not fit to the kindle dxg screen. My computer is macbook pro 13 inch with retina. Do you know how I could fit the screen to the kindle dxg? Anyway, thank you (who made this one possible) for these. It seems like to see some monitor in the near future. |

Update: For all major OS (Linux, {don't know about Windows}, OSX), I have workaround for this but I thought something as straightforward as when you plug your monitor to laptop and extend the desktop would be neat... But I guess, it's not viable.
Has anyone thought about using Kindle as a 2nd monitor in this context? : When you connect a second monitor to your laptop by VGA/HDMI cable, you can make it as an expansion of your desktop estate instead of just duplicating what's on the laptop screen. Possible (theoretically / practically)? Last edited by thatworkshop; 08-19-2015 at 03:37 PM. |

I tried this on a Kobo Aura HD (pretty much the same hack). It didn't run, and when I tried to do it again with a different FW, Ubuntu decided I was no longer allowed to chmod +x the .bat on the e-reader (it let me do it before). I gave up. PITA. I was doing it to spend less time in front of an LCD screen, not more

What is the equivalent of 192.168.blah.blah:1 or 192.168.blah.blah:2 in Windows?
I have the apps Desktops and VirtuaWin... so I want to be able to VNC my DX to my Windows Virtual Desktop 2 (kind of like :2 in Unix). How? @Rizla: I'm sure if you tinker with it a bit, you'll get it to work. It's quite good TBH. I do my stuff on the LCD and have a paper open on my DXG. |

You will need to check on the vnc server that is used.
(almost) any vnc server should work, its a standard protocol. And there are vnc servers for Windows, just don't expect it to be pre-installed on your Windows box (what ever is pre-installed? ![]() |

I setup vnc-solution and tested. You need to pick the right vnc server to make the 2nd monitor usable. I found TightVNC will be much better than UltraVNC as UVNC will not display the mouse cursor for most of the time. TightVNC can provide mouse cursor movement, but not very fast. (Haven't tried RealVNC. Some said it is also good?) For the Kindle side VNC client, I tried both kindlevncviewer and kvncviewer. kindlevncviewer with -dithered is too "dot-matrix" and cannot read the small words. kvncviewer -dither_bw will pop error and cannot run. -fast don't make much difference. So want to see if nahte have anyway to solve it. |
