According to the email, that was yesterday's daily deal.

Okay, thanks. It wasn't advertised as such on the website.

It was at some point. I don't get the e-mail, but I check the website for the deal every day, and that version of The Wonderful Wizard was promoted on the main page as usual. (I bought it for $1.95, stupidly not realizing that it would be cheaper to get the Whispersynced ebook for free and add the audio for $0.99.)

Try returning it and then get it through Whispersync.

So it was a $1.95, hmm. Thanks for the info. When I checked it late in the evening, it showed me the $0.99 price. It would seem that Audible likes to pull offers before the deadline. Oh, well.

TM, this problem will occur when you look at a Deal of the Day that is also a Whispersync title for which you own the Kindle book. Audible will always default to the lower sale price. If you want to see the sale price, log out of Audible and look at the Deal of the Day that way.

Here are a couple of Audible tips for everyone. First, the New York Times is offering a couple of freebies. Both are short (<1 hour) stories but may appeal to some of you.

* "Tomato Can Blues" by Mary Pilon
* "We Like You So Much and Want to Know You Better" by Dave Eggers

Second, would you like to know which Kindle books you own have a Whispersync version available for them? Amazon has a feature that will tell you. I don't know when they added it, but it wasn't there when Whispercync started. I wish I would have known about it before I spent my $15 credit. The link is located on the main Whispersync explanation page (here). If I've done my homework right, the direct link should be here.

Enjoy!

Thanks for the tip. I noticed it awhile back, but never found it useful for what I want. To me, the audiobook is more important; so I search for it first. If I don't have the Kindle version, then I'll either buy it or check it out from a public library (if available).

I spent my $15 credit on $0.99 Classics.

Thanks - added to List of Free Audible Books

There are currently 20 active titles. A link to that list is also in the OP.

Be careful--clicking on the upgrade button automatically makes a purchase! I thought it would lead me to an info page. There is a cancel button, but this setup is still really annoying.

I used my credits on a mix of classics and other Whispersync titles. Lord knows I've gotten enough classics from Downpour and Tantor that I am still working through a backlog. I try to look for Kindle freebies that are Whispersync-ready so that if I get a credit I have something I actually want. Several titles that I got for free and originally were not Whispersync have been added and I would never have known it otherwise.

I'm like you - the audiobook is most important. I recently got a Prime membership, and I wish I had done it a little sooner. I only recently bought a Kindle title for the Whispersync that I could have borrowed with the Lending Library feature. (Thanks, guys, for pointing that one out.)

The same thing happens if you buy a Kindle title, then click immediately on the link to buy the Audible equal. I think Amazon likes the uh-oh click in hopes that someone won't bother asking for a refund if that isn't what they meant to do. (For the same reason I hate 1-click.) A different way will give you more control over your purchase - use the search function, but click on the individual titles themselves and not the buy link. Once you are on the product page the buy button will add the item and take you to your Audible shopping cart, giving you a chance to re-evaluate before buying.

That's another great way to get eligible titles. Too bad it's limited to one book per month.

I agree there. I dislike 1-click and personally feel it's a bit underhanded.
