Oddly, I don't consider myself as the only one with the knowledge to make it work. OTOH, I do not feel comfortable publicly posting a link to a firmware version that does not work even if I surrounded the link with warnings. I've been around long enough to not underestimate the ability of people to fail to read such warnings.

DNSB is too polite(mostly) to say what I have no compunctions about. No matter how well one engineers safeguards, it seems the universe, nature, what have you is far better at engineering a "better", faster, new and improved class of idiot. Get your own firmware bomb and give the guy a break if he feels he'd rather not help someone blow a hole in their foot. That's his privilege as he owes you exactly nothing.

The 2.9.1 I have is a beta. It has not been released (and probably won't be in its present iteration) for any device. The beta builds now get pushed out to beta members. We do not go to a web address and download a zip file or tgz. And when we did get betas that way, we'd have to have been really stupid to post them anywhere.

Thank you for the explanation. I was actually thinking of the regular update file for the new Aura (I should have written 2.9.0, it seems).

The 2.9.0 FW does pretty close to nothing for the Touch. Features are only partially implemented for the Glo and Aura HD in 2.9.0. I'm pretty sure that is why it has only been released for the new Aura.

I am not so much interested in new features. I am trying to make preparations for a new version of Modifications for bad eyes. Having a look at nickel and libnickel of 2.9.0 might give me some hints of how the next FW might look, and whether I should continue in the way I am doing it or whether I am only wasting my time.

.... Sorry if my opinions offended anyone. By the way, 2.9.0 does work on the Aura HD if you use ONLY the KoboRoot.tgz file. I have it on mine. Works great! Thanks DNSB for sharing.
