It's a great idea, especially if there were also a way to get editors involved in the process (including letting authors rate editors). I agree. Sony has IMO always been a strictly "in the box" type of company.

Maybe an agreement with Barnes&Noble rather than the forementioned Amazon. Or some other large Book E-tailer.

I think the poster above who mentioned that Oct is National Book Month may have given a big hint on it being a content announcement. Now - why would they need 2 hours to make an announcement of expanded content availability? There must be more in store. Even Steve Jobs reveals alot of Apple releases in a 1 hour keynote...so either the sony guys talk really slowly or there is a whole lot to look forward to.

Are any of the attendees here going to be posting updates live form the event? I can't believe I will be trapped on a commuter bus for the first hour of the event. I'll be going insane by the time I get home to my internet connection.

A way to buy ebooks through Borders would make sense, as they already sell the PRS through them. I'm not holding my breath for it, just saying it would be an interesting idea.

Time zones are nasty. timeanddate.com has a very nice feature called The Fixed Time World Clock. I've set it for 6 PM New York, and going to this page will display when that time is in different cities / time zones / countries. Handy, isn't it?

I wasn't confused about time zones in general, I just had not seen the time of the event as I was reading through the posts, just that it was scheduled for today. It seems like an interesting time though (6pm) to have a big announcement like this. I hope it is not something lame. With Irex shipping a large format Device, I am hoping the Sony is going to announce their own business class/size reader. A svelte brushed aluminum reader with a large screen would be very nice.
