Which optical size look best on a ereader may vary from font to font, ereader and personal preferences. A good starting point might be you prefered ereader font size. Just look up the actual size in the kobo.conf file. Most users will find their prefered font sizes in the subhead, 14- to 24-point range.
Even then, some font tweaking may be necessery.

Are the sizes in the kobo.conf file in points? If so, I am using 26 in Gill Sans or 24 in Helvetica. You can see how faint the Helvetica is in comparison to Gill Sans. Unfortunately Metazoa's patcher isn't available yet, so I can't use the Advanced settings for sideloaded fonts.

In all fairness, up until yesterday -and that specific man- I've always had nice explanations and the devices were displayed very quickly. Even when I went to exchange my first Aura HD, everyone was nice and helpful.
Hopefully they'll get their act together soon (or the Aura won't sell well in some stores, because if you don't know that there is a new Kobo ereader, you won't be learning it by going to Vice-versa's FNAC or mine).

Hoe do you edit it so that it's full page reading with only the page number below?

I don't have any kepubs to test.

Edit: I answered my own question by downloading a kepub. Sadly, reading stats are only available for kepubs, not side-loaded books. Yet another disappointment.

They are available for sideloaded kepubs (at least when sideloaded using calibre and a glo and older firmware).

No, they have been removed for sideloaded kepubs as of 2.9.0.

Stats have always only been available for kepubs and not to Epubs. That is standard for all Kobo readers unfortunately.

I do get general stats even with epubs, always have done even on the Glo, just not the in-book stats.

That's what I was going to ask too, and I'm hoping that samhy is correct in thinking that there is no editing and it's just a sideloaded epub?

Has anybody else had a problem with their device freezing when doing a sync over wifi? It used to be a very rare instance when either the Mini or Glo froze, but I have had to do the pinhole restart three or four times, in what, six days since I bought the thing.

When buying my Aura from WH Smith last week, they told me they had not received any models for display. However, when I went in there a week later, I was pleased to see they now do have an Aura on display. It's not particularly easy to spot amongst all the other models on display - about 12-14 devices in total - but at least it's there!

Last year, for the 2nd birthday of my grandson, we had a family gathering including his great grandmother aged 90. I ordered a new SD card for my camera on their website with the option : "take it in one hour in our physical store" (it's a one hour trip between my home and their store). When I arrived, the cards were in display in the store, but I couldn't have one as those ones were only for the store sells. The one I had ordered was not available. I asked for one of the "store" and was faced with a refusal : I would have had to cancel my web order and then buy one from the store for... 10 € more than the web price... The card that was to be available in one hour arrived... a week after the order. I came every single day asking for it and it was at least delivered (after the family gathering of course). Two weeks after that, I received an email asking me to come and fetch it from the store. I came and learnt that in fact, my card was actually there at the moment it first must have been (one hour after my command) but as it had been badly registered, it didn't appear on their stock firmware, and furthermore, the delivery had neither been registered in it. Has I'm honest I did tell them that I had already got it but was not even offered some apologies.
It's a chance for FNAC that it's not possible to buy a Kobo out of everyone else in France, as the more I buy from their store, the less I'm incline to do it again

Hmm... can someone explain (preferably with photos) exactly what stats you get with a side-loaded ePub? Will I get the footer that says "Page 1 of 10" for a chapter?

I wonder if they have any iPad minis on display. After all, those are pretty much the same thing as the regular iPad but smaller...
