New slim paperwhite case on Ebay

two have arrived : the orange one, an almost exact copy of the kindle original cover including the pattern on the front, and the purple from my last link (xendula's last too).

The orange only difference to the original one, judged from amazon pics since I don't have an original one at all, is that the plastic back is black, not orange, but it is covered with this orange semi-leather (whatever it is). The color is lovely to me. The cover weighs 112g. The wakeup function works perfectly well.

The purple one is splendid too, weighs 75g, and the structure of the front is different than the exact copy one and than amazon. It is basically the same pattern, but much finer. It is very light, and thin, but I am not sure it would protect the kindle really well because it is so thin it feels like a big envelope rather than a cover (do I make sens ?). The wakeup function works here too.

Edit: I put a drop of water on both. The Orange one, which seems to be coated, does not mark at all, the purple does, and takes some time to dry. But is as good as new once it is dry. I would not use it while eating a subs though, so I think I'll use the orange on the old PW (which will be in my bag) and the purple on the new one.

Just for fun: I had to go to the post office of my village to get the covers. So I had to walk down to the office, as I live on the highest point (first picture is the view from my street, the office is somewhere down there) and up back home again (second picture through one of the village street). In the first picture the sky is really cloudy, but it's the sea behind those hills.
Both pictures were taken this morning at 8.30 and 8.45, going down and coming back up.

I often forget (I guess we all do, don't we?) the beauty of the place I live in. Since I was in no hurry this morning (the Post office opens at 8.30 and I was done with the school bus at 8.10), I strolled around a bit and took some pics.

Re the cases, I will certainly sell the purple one and the other light ones on ebay, because I much better like the style of the orange one. I think those light ones, or at least the purple I received this morning, will not enjoy being in a bag. It really looks pretty but it is not solid at all...
What do you think regarding yours ?

I agree with you 100%. I love the small footprint and pretty color, but used it for a bit last night and also thought it may not give my PW the same protection. Also, when I read in bed, the official case can stand up on its own, but the Ebay ones are all less sturdy and tend to fall over more easily - the price of being lighter weight!
I'll check out the vendor you got the orange one from to see if they have any pretty colors, but I know they will never be as pretty as the gorgeous purple I bought. So very very sad

Do you find the orange one as sturdy as the original PW cover?

ETA: the feel of the original one is just perfect - who knew so much went into making the perfect case! If only Amazon offered a few more colors and black rim around the PW. Sigh. I am not even complaining about their price any more.

I think I'll order the original purple one in the end. I don't have an original one, so I can't compare the orange to an original one.

The vendor I got the orange one from has other colors indeed - all copies of amazon colors btw - but they all look off to me on the pics, except the orange which I already have. The bad thing is that now that I have this kind of cover with the orange one, I realize how nice they indeed are compared to the elastic ones I have been using until now, so I am hooked...

You'll love the original Amazon case. It's really nicely made. I ordered a couple cases off ebay but ended up giving them to friends. For me, the quality just didn't compare, even though the colors were soo pretty! I have the fuchsia in the Amazon PW case and it is a beautiful deep shade of pink. I love it!

Felt is my guess. And the PU Leather of those covers is not durable at all, imho.

Yeah, it looks like it is glued on the backing pretty loosely.

. The covers with elastics were not even for one model in particular, they were generic (waiting for the first stone to hit me...).
I ordered the original purple one. It's the 25th of September, so that's ok, only 5 days of eating pasta until the end of the month
