This thread is in the Deals forum because it is mainly about Deals and Bargains to be found in the Romance genre. Due to this thread being extremely popular, it also contains Discussion (about those books) that is also popular. Possibly changing the future titles of this thread to something like "Free/Bargain Romance ebooks (& Discussion) October 2013" would work?

Changing this thread to "Book Club" (to follow our determination of "Book Club") would mean this thread would be organized to be a Club with a chosen book selection to be read by all and then discussed. That is not what I believe is meant by those here for a "Club".

If the thread members wish to have specific reviews on the books they are reading, that would normally go into the Reading Rec forum in the thread for "Hey!! Let's get some action going! What are we reading?". Since it appears to be that some members would like to have the addition of specific Romance genre reviews in one area, it may be best to have that separate from the Deals/Bargains Romance thread.

Maybe, starting a specific Romance Reviews thread in the Reading Rec forum would work best for keeping all the Romance Reviews in one area and make it easier to search for other reviews on the same book. Possibly, a "Romance Book Reviews only" thread would work in the Reading Rec forum?

Oh I like your suggestions! I agree people might get confused on the club reference. Maybe we could shorten the title to something like:

Do we really need the word Free in there? To me a freebie is a great deal!

I'm all for starting a thread for Romance book recommendations and what we are reading discussion. It would be different from what Blu suggested The new thread would probably move alot of the chit chat to the new thread which might make some people happy. I mean we could try it and see how it goes. What do you all think?

Great idea. If you don't want anything as sophisticated as a rating, I would be happy with...Loved, Liked or didn't like. Maybe just posting the ones that you loved would be enough and so helpful.

I think what she means is we'd post two lists within our post for Sundays, what we bought and what we read.

I'm for just a simple listing of what we read (either with a rating or simple loved/liked/didn't like).

To me a book "club" or discussion thread would involve a lot more actual discussion and then we'd get into the whole what's a spoiler issue. Better to keep it simple.

And those who want to list their books read, great. But like with the buy report no one HAS to. Or they could just list the books read without a rating/comment.

ETA: I actually only rate my books because of Calibre. If I really don't like a book I delete it So my ratings are kinda off as anything 2 stars and above I actually at least liked. 1 star books are only kept if they are by a favorite author or part of a series.

I smiled when I saw that if you don't like a book you delete it from Calibre... I do too.
Also I like that some people will list books they bought or read or liked or didn't like, etc. That way everyone has something to say...as of this thread has that problem.

I think we do need it. The ones who never participate in the thread, and only come here looking for free stuff, need to know which thread to click on. To me there is a difference between a deal and a freebie.

It was a long time ago and I can no longer remember the name. I'm sorry.

Viking-era romances are not very common, and I am unfortunately very picky. However, I'll be sure to post the names in this thread if I come across any good ones from now on.

In fairness I should add that one of my biggest gripes with viking romances is the names. I'm Swedish. The anglified versions of what Norse names are supposed to be like in my mind, to my ears, ring off-key and jar the immersion to the point that using a C instead of a K, i.e Cnuut instead of Knut, can be all it takes me to make roll my eyes at the author's "obvious" (=apparent) lack of interest in researching their chosen setting before writing about it.

I cheerfully ignore the fact that the only way to force a native English speaker to pronounce the name Knut correctly is to spell it Cnuut. Welsh/Scottish romances have pronunciation guides either in the back or front of the book. It's easy to make one for vikings.

Good point ScaleyFreak. I still get excited when I see free.....we are really lucky to offset our book buying with freebies.

I hardly ever buy romance eBooks, actually, since I hardly ever re-read them. That's why that difference is so important to me. I need to know where to find the free stuff, since that's the majority of what I get out of this discussion thread.

The thread is for posting freebies and deals, but we also have discussion. So to me, your second suggestion is a better fit for what's happening in this thread.
