Looks like my Aura has the "pinprick" problem too; found 2 of them. They're so small that a. they don't bother me, and b. I actually don't notice them once I forget about them. (I was reading for about 2 hours yesterday before I even noticed them.) In case anyone wants to take a look:

Anyways, they're certainly no deal-breaker for me. I'm very happy with it. As I said, it's close enough to the Mini in size for me.

I think the pinprick is kobos equivalent of the kindle blotchy screen.

With the benefits of the flush screen, smaller footprint etc it's probably something that's worth living with.

Of course I'd still like a perfect screen.

Just returned from taking a look at the Aura at Chapters, and the one on display had 2 pinpricks showing. Is it possible that these are specks of dust? Not sure exactly how the lighting works on these devices, but if the light is up top (which it appears to be) and shines down, wouldn't it make sense that something on the surface is causing these?

I was ready to rush out and pick one of these up until I read about the pinpricks here, and then witnessed it myself. Well, that Chapters has 10 Aura's in stock... wonder how many I could go through before I'd find a perfect one...

They sure look like light shining from behind, it is curious though as they all seem to be affected somehow.

I think it is better than the patchy kindle pw issue but still how hard can it be to make a lit ereader screen with no faults?

No problem. That's how small they are; As I said earlier, I didn't notice them until about 2 hours of straight reading on the device. By the way, Pocket integration is fantastic. The only reason I still kept my Kindle was for the articles I would send to it; now Pocket on the Aura is certainly good enough. The Aura will definitely be my main device.

I just checked out the new Aura at Chapters. I generally don't notice most issues that some find bothersome. All I want is a reader with good contrast, crisp fonts and minimal glare. The first thing I noticed about the Aura was the glare. There is definitely more than the Glo and HD. Not huge, and probably not a deal breaker, but noticeable. Surprised more people haven't mentioned it. Going to wait a bit for the Aura / PW2 comparison.

To me, your photo looks like it has some dark patches. Is that just the photo?

One reason I haven't returned mine is that I don't have any dark patches at the bottom of the screen, and one of the models I tried which did have light spots also had some dark patches at the bottom.

Bluewater

The manager was very reluctant to let me see them, I ended up feeling a tad guilty when they both he's the same issue.

I just checked out the Aura at Chapters, but didn't come home with one. I prefer the Glo for two reasons. First, my hands favour the softer plastic casing of the Glo - my thumbs were sore after holding the rather sharp edge of the Aura. Second, my eyes detect many grey dots between page turns, sort of a partial screen refresh as part of the new no-ghosting technology. I suppose I would get used to it over time, but it bugs me now. The store demo did not have any pinpricks. I'll be keeping an eye out for price reductions on the Glo!

I worked out the sharpness was the issue - by dragging the slider to the right, I got rid of the fuzziness. I can actually feel my eyes more relaxed now, although it has obviously sacrificed a lot of the antialiasing.

Nah, we had those pinpricks on the PWs as well, along with the color blobs.
