Free and bargain romance ebooks in September 2013

Since we have such a wonderful community of people in this thread and we rely on each others expertise, how do you feel about adding to our Sunday confessions? I was wondering if we could/should add to our buy list the books we've read and our ratings? Do you think it's a good idea or will it clutter up our thread too much?

ETA: we don't need to add a full review or anything[unless someone asks], just list what we read and our rating.

Get her the Kindle Basic. It's a great reader and at $69 you wont go broke. This is the Kindle I always recommend for those 16 and under.
The K4 has the best contrast out of unlit Kindles. I have two that are just sitting because I now have the Kindle Paperwhite. If I were to buy one for one of my family that's what I would get them. It's alot smaller and tiny and perfect for young hands.

It is a refurbished model. She like the K keyboard because she could add music. But I think that option has been removed from all the newer Kindles.

It doesn't have Audio though but it's great for reading and it has page turn buttons like the K3 has.

The contrast on the Silver K4s is crappy. The Black has the improved contrast. It's worth the extra 10. See a pic of mine here and here

I think it's a great Idea I always mention when I finish a book here what I thought of it. Just in case someone is looking for something to buy.

Also those who use Goodreads feel free to add me as a friend! I love we can add status updates as we read a book and I get to see the ratings and review if you post one.

Yeah I went through a year having people tell me it was all in my head as I was never happy with my K4S. I got into some pretty heated debates on here but when the K4B came out. I was so thrilled to have a reader I could read with that didn't have contrast issues. I took those pics to silence all those who called me a liar. It helps that almost everyone who bought one was blown away by the black text and cleaner background on the K4B.

Now I have a PW I have put that all behind me.

The K4B wins over the PW unlit. Lit the PW wins over the K4B. I am hoping the new PW2 will trump the K4B both ways.

WOW! did not know there was that much difference. I will be getting her the black one. Since she has been wearing glasses since she was 3 I do not want to put more strain on her eyes.

I've often changed character names, and not always intentionally, but my brain will just read the letters as something totally different than what the author intended. An excellent way to get around bad names, or names of siblings/parents/exes.

I've stopped rating/posting reviews on GR for anything under 4 stars, but I'm Rj over there.

I won't have anything to report again this Sunday... nothing read either. My hubby's grandpa died on Tuesday (funeral is next week, six hours away), we had our 15 year old cat put down yesterday, and our house is on the market. I'm not one for audio books, but I think I need a light and fluffy one I can listen to and block out the world for a few hours!

Is there an obvious way to tell which books give you a mega-deal at audible if you already own the eBook?

Maybe we need a Confessions or at least a review group. That way reviews are in one place instead of spread across the months with the bargains

Maybe wait until next month when the thread name is changed to include Book Club (or whatever was decided on)? I've been including my thought on the books I read immediately in the buy report, but what I'm reading is usually more from my existing TBR pile.

I also try to say if I really liked a book if it's mentioned being on sale. I know some of the comments here have helped to buy or avoid the on sale/freebie books mentioned. And I appreciate that.

Sorry to hear about your husband's grandfather and your cat. It's always difficult to lose family members regardless if they are of the two-legged or four-legged variety.

This thread is in the Deals forum because it is mainly about Deals and Bargains to be found in the Romance genre. Due to this thread being extremely popular, it also contains Discussion (about those books) that is also popular. Possibly changing the future titles of this thread to something like "Free/Bargain Romance ebooks (& Discussion) October 2013" would work?

Changing this thread to "Book Club" (to follow our determination of "Book Club") would mean this thread would be organized to be a Club with a chosen book selection to be read by all and then discussed. That is not what I believe is meant by those here for a "Club".

If the thread members wish to have specific reviews on the books they are reading, that would normally go into the Reading Rec forum in the thread for "Hey!! Let's get some action going! What are we reading?". Since it appears to be that some members would like to have the addition of specific Romance genre reviews in one area, it may be best to have that separate from the Deals/Bargains Romance thread.

Maybe, starting a specific Romance Reviews thread in the Reading Rec forum would work best for keeping all the Romance Reviews in one area and make it easier to search for other reviews on the same book. Possibly, a "Romance Book Reviews only" thread would work in the Reading Rec forum?

When I mentioned adding books read + ratings to our confessions, I was suggesting just a simple addition to what we purchased. I wasn't looking for anything official or substantial reviews. But if that's what you are intending in a separate thread, by all means. Just wasn't my intention is all.

For example, my usual Sunday post would be as follows:
Book Buys this week: 6 books, $13
Always Enough – Stacy Borel
Never Goodbye – Kerri Williams
Unchained [Nephilim] – J. Lynn
A Little Too Far - Lisa Desrochers
Insurgent – Veronica Roth
Dare You To – Katie McGarry

All I was suggesting was adding something like the following to that same post:
Books Read this week and my rating:
Perfect Chemistry – Simone Elkeles – 4.0
Divergent – Veronica Roth = 4.0
Alluring Turmoil – Skye Turner = 2.0
Hush, Hush – Becca Fitzpatrick = 3.0
Smart, Sexy & Secretive – Tammy Falkner = 4.5
Rules of Entanglement – Gina L. Maxwell = 3.0

Blue2u, thanks for the clarification. Due to the nature of this specific Deals thread and the number of participants (and those that just read and don't post), adding what you suggested above seems to fit with the content of this thread.
