galculator 2.1.2 (Kindle ver)

I've tryed modifying galculator.conf too... not working. I've tryed also with displayctrl files, changing the height and width of the buttons, but nothing happens

That may be the difference, you normally have yours re-directed to a writable file system - -
Other people may not have that modification.

yeah. something about the HOME env_var it is not honouring probably. will dig later.

most people will possibly find it in /tmp/root/blah.conf (or w/e the regular people live)

I could just emit the local config file to the right location at startup and forget about it...
In the short term.

i had changed home from /tmp/root to /home/root..
couldn't see any .conf file in both places..

I can happily shove a

cp /mnt/us/extensions/galculator/.config/galculator/galculator.conf ~/.config/galculator/galculator.conf

in the script... as I mentioned before.

cp /mnt/us/extensions/galculator/.config/galculator/galculator.conf ~/.config/galculator/galculator.conf

seem to work just fine.
(I edited the first conf and it did indeed honour the copy...)

want that in the startup script?

isn't it only needed for the first time (mkdir and cp)..?
also if ~ is /tmp/root then it's read only..?

a) Technically yes, but it doesn't harm.
b) if it's /tmp/root (the default), then it's writable, but will disappear after a reboot. That's why just copying stuff there is the easiest solution.

Also... since you are likely to be making EDITS to the /mnt/us/extensions/galculator/.config/galculator/galculator.conf I would have to run a diff or something to determine whether or not to copy it across...

Looking into galculator source I noticed that you can set a custom location for a config file by setting GALCULATOR_CONFIG variable.
