On the other hand, that sure is fast for "surface shipping"!
TheBard, do you mean Fedex?
Memphis is the major hub for Fedex, so as irrational as it seems, it's the normal routing.

My Aura just arrived from Hong Kong (to Los Angeles). FYI, FedEx tracking as of 2 hours ago said it would be delivered Monday and that it was still in Tennessee.

FedEx Tennessee Hub is how they can have overnight delivery to most anyplace in USA lower 48 states. Everything not local goes to Tennessee then then routed to nearest airport to final destination for truck delivery.

Ah, yes.
I am used to the UPS truck stopping here ... my fingers got ahead of my cognitive processes.

Yes, it is indeed FedEx, and your explanation is a good one. Thanks!

Mine just arrived via USPS.

Looks good. One pinprick of light, but all the way at the bottom right corner, so I can't see it unless I'm looking for it. Otherwise everything looks good, loading up with books now.

Will I join the ranks of cranky Kobo owners? Time will tell. It's looking like trouble.

After a wonderful order and delivery process, my Aura arrived today with a small glittering hole of light in the screen. I called customer service and was put on hold several times so the gal could "investigate". I was told I would receive an e-mail and I was to respond to it with a photograph of the hole!!! I asked when I might hear back after I replied and was answered "24-48 hours". Well, it's sent, but I don't hold out much hope for an expedited return and reship.

Truly great customer service would have emailed me a return shipping label and given me the option to reorder a new one. I would gladly have allowed them to charge my credit card and credit me when they received the defective one.

For the premium price of this reader, I expect better service.

Ordered Aura on 9/10, received an invoice on the 15th, shipping notice on the 18th with delivery, from HongKong scheduled for Monday. Received today(9/20) from FedEx at 11AM in flooded Colorado.

Very pleased with the Aura. Software seems to be OK - not buggy. Refresh is good and light is very even and no shadows at lower levels. Only one tiny white spot in upper left corner, not noticeable. easy to hold and use. I'm glad that I bought it. Thanks Kobo - you have a winner!

blueberry pie That is the kind of customer service I expect from kobo .It has been horrible since I orded a kobo vox last year. it is unfortunate . that is why I started this thread and still have not/maybe not order one from kobo directly. I can now order from chapters indigo who will deliver to the US or maybe I will try an independent seller here in Philly.
Good luck.

Let me know if you find an independent seller in Philly. I'd come down on the train to get it.

jerseyman I called Giovanni's Room Bookstore(I bought my kobo Arc there) 215-923-2960. The person that answered the phone said that they do not carry the aura but the manager can order it for you. I did not do it yet (had to buy tires last weekend more important). you may want to give them a try. Good luck

I've read half a book on it today and it's a beautiful device. My only complaint is a line of light across the very top. It's small and light and I'm glad I ordered it!

Any chance you could post a pic with it next to the mini, or even holding them both in your hand?

I received an email a week ago telling me that per my request, my order was cancelled. Except that I never asked them to cancel. Also, the hokey pokey dance they do with the charges caused inconvenience at my bank..they flagged my card for suspicious activity. I had to call and tell them that it was just KoBo misbehaving again.

I sent Kobo a peeved email, and told them that while their hardware is excellent, their customer service and ordering system is terrible. They said I'd have to reorder the Aura. I told them forget it, and I want a refund..because the charge was taken out of my account. They tell me I should see that in 48 hours. Nope.

What do I find today on my doorstep? My Kobo Aura. What the hell is going on!

The Aura is nice, but holy cow, I've undergone root canals that were less stressful than dealing with Kobo's CS..

Here you go...taken with an iPad so not the greatest quality but you can see the size difference. I am finding I really like the size...I love my Aura HD but this new Aura is going to be the traveling Kobo!

Am I missing something? I don't even see the option of ordering the Aura on their website. I see the Aura HD but not the Aura.
