If you run the Quality check PI : Check Metadata: Check Author Sort
It will show JUST the books that need fixing

Select (all those. ctrl-a) books, Tap 'E' to get into Bulk edit mode: Tick the Automaticly.. box under Authors; click OK

That recalculates the sort using the New(?) rules

That is what the 'Update Tile Sort' option near the bottom of the 'Edit Metadata in Bulk' dialog does - it recalculates all the title sort fields from the current Title ones taking the tweak into account.
