I_macd, or you want to be able to turn full justification off without running each book through Calibre; Kobo (and iBooks) support that, but Kindle does not. That's reason enough for me to stick with Kobo (although there are many other Kobo things I like, too).

...Or you dislike the fact that you have to jailbreak and hack a Kindle to get it to use current cover as screensaver or to use your calibre metadata to organise Collections/Shelves. Even then it's not as convenient as it is with a Kobo (or a Sony).

Tomorrow I'm going to see the new Aura for myself, and if there is one without light/dark spots, I might even buy it. |

I haven't got my new Aura yet, but I'm upgrading from a 2nd gen Kindle - dark gray on lighter gray screen and slow as molasses, but once I get into a book, it doesn't matter in the least - I'm in the book, not looking at my ereader.

As long as the pages turn when I'm ready for them, I don't think any little imperfections are going to matter to me. |

Well mine has some pin pricks! Only 3 and all near the edge of the screen, the furthest one in is half a cm from the edge, if I turn the brightness down to 50% only 1 is visible.

Still trying to decide if it's an issue or not. It's not perfect which is disappointing but given that on my PW I have never gone above 50% I'm still undecided. I'm sure books will be perfectly readable on it

Full justification, book covers as screensavers etc are likes/dislikes not reason to ignore something. Just like you wouldn't rule a Kobo out of consideration because of the blank screen space at the bottom of pages. If you want to be picky here are aspects of all ereaders that can be focused on, I just gave what I reckon are the only reasons for Jim to not even consider a Kindle if he was looking at other options.

Forget the bloody light leaks, the OS is bloody pile of poo. In my first hour the reader has frozen totally twice needing use of the reset button. Not impressed |

@neil74: Thats bizarre as it's the same O/S on all other Kobo ePub devices.

Three trips to !ndigo, but I now have an Aura without any issues with the seal between the bazel and the metal. The irony is that I was worried about a stuck/dead pixel.

Make that 5 freezes in the first 2 hours.

I am navigating and then the device just freezes, non-responsive. I have to stick a pin in the reset button to get it to work again. |

There's something to be said for buying locally, you could show them. Try explaining it on the phone and then try taking a pic of that issue when they request it. ** Received replacement device today, October 9th. Same issue but to a lesser degree. I'm not willing to deal with them any longer, trying to get an acceptable replacement. Last edited by tlaine; 10-09-2013 at 09:49 PM. Reason: Received replacement |
