Kobo Discounts: Coupon Codes + Discussion

If any of you are interested, I've started a poll in the Kobo devices sub forum: How important is knowing the format before purchase

BTW, I haven't heard back from Kobo Cust Care re my request that they re-issue me the book in epub format.

If O'Reilly did not send one to them, they won't do this.

There's a couple of reasons why I've asked them to give me the Epub, and of course the most important is that i wanted to buy the epub version of the book in the first place and am still quite willing to pay for it.

The other reason is because Kobo made a kepub version from some format or other which one presumes they got from O'Reilly.

Kobo can let me know why an epub isn't available for this book if that's the case - which i doubt.

Kobo's Contest has started today and ends Sept 27th. We have a 0.6% chance of receiving a code greater than 50%.

Since the multi-use 50% off coupon runs until the end of September, I don't think it's worth anyone posting any 50% or less codes until October (if the competition ones remain valid that long).

I would be very happy, when somebody could send me a discount code which is above 50%.

I cannot participate in Kobo's Contest, because I am not living inside the US, UK or Canada.

Okay, so like today is my one year anniversary of being with Kobo and they send me a 20% off coupon. That when they are running another contest and there is 50% off unlimited code good thru the end of September.
REALLY??? This is the best they can do for customer appreciation. That would be like my husband coming to me and saying "hey I took out one bag of trash to the dumpster, but there are still four bags to take out". It is just a little insulting.
Do they really understand the concept of customer appreciation?

I think you might just be a tad greedy there. Nothing prevents you from using the 50% unlimited coupon. These don't come around all that often and the fact that it coincides with you getting a 20% coupon is just coincidence. It's great that Kobo are giving out coupons and allowing multiple uses, so that's enough customer appreciation to satisfy me.

You realize they'd have sent you the coupon even if there was no 50% coupon or a contest active? Then you'd have had 20% off instead of 0%. So don't use it...use the 50% off instead. I got a 25% on the contest today...I just won't use it and will use the 50% instead.

What I think is your are not getting my point. I work in a customer relations field. If I have items that are currently listed at 50% during a time at which I want to show appreciation to a customer how stupid would I look if I offered them 20% instead.

A note saying that they appreciate my business is cool. And true if at any other time this code was offered that would be great. But to not recognize that this offer during the time of a valid 50% is just a little insulting.

I would never treat a customer this way. And no I am not a tad greedy. I am using the 50% like an intelligent person would. Just don't get why the company would offer this under the current circumstances. Perhaps it is just a reflection of the company being a little out of touch with their clients.

Because a computer sends the anniversary codes out automatically when your date comes up and it doesn't KNOW there's a 50% discount code active. That's why.
