LOL. I often have that too, with mobile phone providers, two months or so before the contract ends. They all start calling you to please, please take your next contract with them.

Once I've said:

"This is the third time you've called this week. First: I'm not going to decide this on the phone. You should have guessed that already, after the first two calls. I will compare contracts and choose at the appropriate time. Second: If you contact me again, you *WON'T* be in the comparison."

Exactly. I don't care if Amazon builds Facebook, Google+, Twitter, FourSquare, Shelfari, GoodReads *and* Special Recommendations For You into the Kindle, as long as I can turn all of it off in the options and then never see it again.

Well, I don't like unsolicited ads either, but to be honest I kind of expect to see them when I'm online and visiting a retailer site like Amazon, Walmart, etc.! I would be surprised if I didn't see them there! I don't mind them that much. Actually I've been guided to alternated items to purchase on occasion where I got a better deal.

The difference is that a webstore is a site where you want to buy stuff, so you'd expect to see stuff you can buy, obviously.

For me, an e-reader is primarily that: a reader, not just another advertisment platform.

The e-reader manufacturers may have different thoughts about this, but if the ones that operate a store besides the reader are going to turn the devices into ad-posts, then I'll be getting a reader from someone else.

You do have the Option to Turn off the ads! Just go online to your account & click OFF

I yield to no man in my hatred for advertisements. (Maybe to a few men. Probably to most men. I mostly just ignore them. The ads, I mean. The men too, though. And women.) But when I go to an online sales catalog, I pretty much expect to see a ton of advertisements.

Again, these features are on the website, on the screen that you see either way after you made your purchase, NOT on any devices. All they did was add two additional buttons, one of which is allowing you to send the same book to a second device (so they are not advertising anything at all), and the second button is what you see if you hit the back button in your bowser, which is what I always had to do when adding the audiobook to my purchase.

I am a bit amazed about such harsh reactions, since amazon.com has a gazillion buy buttons all over the site already.

I can absolutely understand how it can be useful for some people, but it's just the "let's impose this on everybody" that really annoys me. Somehow I find it extremely arrogant to just assume that everybody will want that. It's not just Amazon, most companies are guilty of this.

Still, like all their other useless to me "share this", "why don't you buy that as well" buttons and recommendations strewn all over the place, my little brain will just blank these out altogether

I certainly see the benefit. I always download any purchased ebooks to my computer (for backup) as well as my Paperwhite, so it's nice not to have to go looking for the book to download. I don't usually buy Audiobooks, but the button doesn't bother me.

In this instance: For me it is a bit of a slap-in-the-face since they took away the audio components on the later devices. However, frankly, it underlines the reasons we suspected they did that for.

I didn't understand that you were talking about the Amazon store when I replied. A store is the proper place to try to sell us stuff and I have no problem with that.

As for the harsh reactions, I think you're not considering another button, the one you pushed when you made a post that some of us mistakenly took to be praising ads on our devices. Even the very lightest touch on that button forces me into protest.

It's just a simple desire to squeeze all marketers and watch them burst. Nothing negative. Not hatred, either of marketers or their evil deeds. It's just a love of bursting.

Hm. If that "On Amazon.com" was in the post from the beginning, then shame on me. In that case, I totally missed it.

I was thinking that Xendula was buying a book directly from the KPW, and then getting an offer to buy the audio book and send it to another device because the KPW itself doesn't have audio capabilities anymore.

Yes, I too was amazed at so many waving torches and charging the castle over the original post, which clearly mentioned the website.

And I'm with the original poster in being grateful for these two changes, which do make it easier for me to transfer a book to more than one device, and grab the audio for cheap if I'd like. Sheesh!

Thats how I read the Org Post! So what so great is Not having to Search for Matching AudioBook & getting a Great Discount on the Audio. Whats BAD New PW Dont have Audio! SUCKS! Of Course with 2 gig space or less it would only hold 1 -2 ebooks & audios at a time! Not good for long trips...
I do use it on my Fire HD! Which holds Lots of eBook Audio & Movies! Why I debating the PW in its self. Also Use it on my K3 which is dying...would buy a new K3 in a heart beat IF Amazon had them...dumb move!
