The sequel is recent, within the last year or so, and still at hardback prices. Once it drops to pb or so I'll pick it up.

Reading the 3rd in a series by Karen Traviss, The World Before. The first book was a freebie from Harper Collins, City Of Pearl. I am really enjoying it and there are 3 further books all available from FW. Also reading Gold From Rubble, a book about Shin Buddhism (pure land).

Fictionwise is bad for my book budget

I just received an email from them that Terry Pratchett's New book Nation is now available for purchase.

I've been waiting to buy it, as I've already spent quiet a bit this month. But this is too much to resist.

Would definitely suggest that people check it out.

Have to agree. I was spending about $140 a month on p books. Hoped the reader would get that down to $30 but FW has me up around $50 I would guess. Take me a bit longer to justify the Cybook but what the hell, there are other advantages as we all know.

True, the only problem is that being an impulse purchaser, Fictiowise is like waving a flag in front to me, especially with the special offers over and above the Buywise club discount.

With Amazon, I at least tried to wait till I could get an order with Free Shipping. With that barrier gone, my low self control for Book caomes out to play

Still, I'm not spending as much as I was previously, as I'm buying some of the books in $ instead of £ which does result in some savings. Not all, as many of the book I want are not available as ebooks

I grew up in a small rural town near the Anglo Zulu war battle sites. Books were very limited at the tiny local library. I must have read almost every book in the local book exchange. That set my world view on books in a fundamental way, i.e. books are a rare, valuable commodity. Decades have gone by but still I get a thrill when I see all the books I can buy in seconds at FW. I am constantly thrilled by my good fortune.

Currently reading 2 from FW:

book 14 of Alex Archers, Angel Rogue series ( The golden elephant )
( never thought id be hooked on a harliquin novel series ROFL, they are the parent company. Its a great action / adventure series tho. Not the love triangle blah blah type book )

and

Butler, Octavia E - Lilith's Brood - Xenogenesis Series Omnibus.imp

Lilith's Brood is the renamed / compileation of "Xenogenesis" a 3 book series about what happens when a traveling race of aliens come across a earth that has just been devestated by a global war so bad that it will be steril if they dont intervene. OOHH .. did I mention that the aliens also have a racial imparitive to bond with another race so that they them selve dont go extinct and or stagnate? ( very simplified, but OOHH so good books. Please check out the office descriptions for much better information )

I'm reading Bobby's Diner by Susan Wingate. Bought it, cranked the font up really big, and slid it onto my reader, all in about 2 minutes.

I like to browse and sort by price (low to high). I've been able to re-acquire many many novellas, short stories, etc., that I knew and loved and lost at various times in the past. Short story is my favorite scifi sub-genre, but they are hard for me to keep on my p-bookshelf.
