The Paperwhite came out last year. There is a new improved Paperwhite version being released at the end of the month. I own the original Paperwhite but will be adding the new one to my collection.

The Paperwhite is frontlit. Which means you can read in all lighting conditions! It's perfect for night time reading or whenever. It has a higher resolution than previous Kindles. The screen on the Paperwhite is breath taking compare to previous Kindles. Once you use a PW it's hard to read on the other Kindles. The newest PW coming out will not be Pearl but a new screen called Carta with even better contrasts on blacks and whites! I am super excited!

No, the PW doesn't support ePub. A person would have to convert them to KF8/AZW3 or Mobi.

lol. Yeah, this is my problem... though probably not so massive. But I just hate to give Kobo more of my money... I hadn't had this reader a full year and it did not get abused. I need to research really, but after having the Glo it's gotta have a built-in light!

I believe that calibre has a mass (or bulk) conversion option. I'm not saying you could do 1000s at a time (or maybe you can, I'm no expert), but I'm sure it can be done more efficiently than one at a time.

There should be no reason to limit yourself to particular retailers because of the format available. calibre and alf allow you to conver epubs to KF8/mobi or KF8/mobi to epub. Or to pdf or html or whatever format your heart desires.

Blossom, if I recall, you like to read your books with a space between paragraphs, don't you? I do, but my Paperwhite will not display them like that, even after I have formatted them with Calibre. Are you able to get the text to appear the way you want on your PW? I was so annoyed with this, I quit using it. (Now I have koreader and can read epubs, and that way it does display the text with spacing as I have formatted it.) I am very interested in how your text is displayed on your PW.

You don't even have to do that. Plug your kindle in, run Calibre, send book to Kindle, Calibre will automatically convert it and send the correct format to the device.
