Anyways my initial impression of the the new kobo is meh, I don't need it. I do wish they would add multi-touch to my Aura HD though, seeing the IR touch hardware supports it...by the way...isn't odd that the HD is an older model? Usually tech products don't go backwards like that

They haven't really gone backward. The previous 6" screen is the same resolution. Now if you are talking about the 6.8" screen, then you are comparing apples and oranges. Of course a bigger screen is going to have a bigger resolution.

Doesn't surprise me that you haven't received email notification of shipping yet. If they do it anything like they did with my Aura HD order in April, even if they did ship Aura's today the email won't go out for a couple of days. My Aura HD arrived on April 19 and I got the email of shipping the same day about 90 minutes before it was delivered, it had obviously been shipped a couple of days prior to that, they were just slow in sending the shipping email.

Isn't it a step back in terms of DPI? They started with the original kobo's, then went to the mini and glo with higher DPI. Than the Aura HD with a higher DPI, now the "new" Aura with a lower DPI than the "old" Aura HD.

Damn that Aura HD for spoiling the curve.

Has anybody seen the new Kobo Aura (not HD) in the flesh? I'm curious about whether the new touch screen has more glare than the old one, and how bad the glare off the bezel (which is now made of the same material as the touch screen, and flush with it) is? Thanks!
